Molly and Al lived an incredible life together on the road in their House Truck before finding their own idillic piece of land to set up a small homestead in the South Island of New Zealand. Their story shows an evolution from living in a house truck, to finding a more permanent solution for their retirement, that still allows them the freedom to hit the road when they desire.

@@Mystaries I wish! My grandfather emigrated to America long ago and the family was in Grand Rapids MI until my relatives moved to WA State to take advantage of the Homestead Act! Yes, they are from Friesland. I want to visit Holland in the next year or two after I build my tiny home and get settled. I'm so happy you have found a site! This is really taking hold in the US now. I hope to find a site near Snoqualmie, WA. One of my daughters lives there and it is near other family.

How heartwarming and uplifting they are! Their place is a warm hug that shows their spirit. How inspiring to hold in mind that what they have is the manifestation of an evolving dream that they fed for so many years as they traveleled around, savoring life with eyes and hearts wide open, and a whole lot of hard work. Molly said there was NOTHING on that section when they bought it! Look at the Paradise they've given birth to! At what age are we too old for the adventure? Don't give up, she says! So what if we don't live to full realization? The guy they bought their section from provided the traction for their further evolution, and we can do the same for another's.

I love their initiative to do for themselves and share what they've learned. They are a perfect example of living a holistic life. I've always thought it the way to live to have small buildings facing inward toward the yard/garden. Doors open to let children and animals to run in and out. Adults/kids working in the garden etc with a cold drink, leaning on a shovel, rake, makes the whole property part of the living room. We tend to have these palaces facing out for show to "others." Coming from California, I remember the old missions. You went into a gate and suddenly a wonderful courtyard opened before you with all the rooms lining up along the edge. I know it was created for monks, and the weather is good but, I always loved that you walked out of a room to the courtyard. Love modular living. It requires you to be involved. They are wonderful souls. Thank you for bringing us these great video of lovely people who we might never know. She did talk a little about cost. It might be nice to hear about a little of some of these people's education level and "work" history. It might help some of us, especially young people to have an example of how these people got where they are. That's a lot of money to spend on the camper, property, and buildings. It has to come from somewhere. Surely they have an interesting life.
