I'm an only child. I'm in my mid 30s and save for my closest of close friends and one friend who I've known for so long, I call him my brother, I'm exceptionally alone. My parents were pretty normal in that they planted themselves in one spot and didn't move, so I didn't move..and I've been stuck in my hometown and haven't seen anywhere else except when I go out of town for like a day or two, and it has been driving me crazy so much to the point where I've had several breakdowns and I've been looking for a cure to this emptiness I've been feeling for a long time now and I think I've finally found it. I've looked up several channels and articles on this topic and yours in one that really gives me inspiration to make this happen. Keep on man, you're a living inspiration.

It was the age of Aquarius and I was a lot like you moving constantly all over, real wanderlust, the only one in my family. Then I had a child and when they become school age sorry you're stuck!! Although I did move twice after my daughter was born. I eventually wound up planting myself over 1500 miles away from my original home. Kids will get you every time, you will do things against even your own nature if it betters their life. That is why I love watching you I loved that life! Now, kids are all grown up and I have MS and after watching you I bought an RV the wheels will be my new legs, Thank you, you are an inspiration.

I love that you keep your kitty on a leash. That is so me. Like I don't want to keep him indoors if he is an outdoor cat, but I'm also worried for his safety. So he only goes out when I am supervising him. I haven't trained him to use a leash yet, but he responds to my voice when I call him and he doesn't stray far from the house.

we really enjoy your videos, they are interesting and informative. we have been working toward road living for 5 years now..seems our friends keep beating us to the road. we just bought a 1990 Ford econoline class B van and after inspection and registering it, on the maiden vogage around town ride, it blew all it's transmission fluid out and once again AAA tow home. this is now our 3rd attempt with a motorized vehicle with unbelievable but the same outcome. we do have a pick up truck and 1968 holiday rambler travel trailer we camp in.- we watch your videos to keep us motivated to what our ultimate goal is....living on the road...thanks again, keep the videos coming and be safe. oh, yes, I just love Jax. also kudos to you for having Jax and taking care of him so well.

You'd have been a pioneer in the early days of the Americas. In fact, humans are nomadic by nature. It's how we got to evolve into the varying cultures and races! Modern people stuck in the same spot, worried about their property values, their toys, and unwilling to understand a roaming life are really the odd ones out in history.

I seriously got teary-eyed watching the beginning of this video (not the intro, no offense). I used to travel from Arkansas (my home state) to Durango, CO, for work and life. I miss those sunrises and sunsets, and that reminded me of those years traveling to and from! Damn. I've got to get back out on the road. Thanks, again, for the great videos!

Totally agree Eric. It`s either in your blood or it isn`t. I`ve been "grounded" for quite a while now, raising a family, but always identify more with gypsy travel than living and amassing things in a box. Good thing is, I can sell my house and buy an RV when I need to. And, hopefully, just like you, never look back with regret.

+Habitat for Herbivores Yeah, I bought a transit connect cargo van recently. I put almost 3k miles on it before I even got my permanent tags. It's probably too small for most people, but works perfect for me. It's fun to travel around and camp out of it. However, it is also nice to have a home to come back to after a week or so. I live in Colorado so I can branch out in multiple directions:)

I'm a truck driver and this is what we call a Pre-Trip. I have also made it a habit of doing a thorough walk around every time I stop. Rest area, truck stop, gas stations... People hate Truckers. To be honest, Truckers hate "Steering wheel Holders" and for these reasons, I check my rig. I am also a van dweller and I know that people also hate us. Always, ALWAYS check your rig out BEFORE you leave your overnight/overday sleeping area. Humans can be mean. Take care and be safe! We got to look out for each other.

Great pointers on checking your engine fluids frequently and to be sure nothing was tampered with. About food born illness, 11:28 You might read up on "Salmonella and Food" at CDC. (Sanitizing with diluted bleach, etc.) ...and hoping people check their propane hoses, connections, and valves regularly with soapy water regarding leak detection! Overall, great video!

a thought on home/property "ownership": No one ever truly owns a house or land... oh sure, we pay for it, but what you're actually paying for is the right to pay taxes on that property. Neglect the taxes, and you'll quickly find yourself nomadic (or homeless all together). My annual taxes are 3 times what the original mortgage payment was! ($828/yr payments vs $2400/yr TAX). Granted, this was originally purchased in 1972, but still. I can see taxes for a few years perhaps, but when you keep a place for 40+ years, its been bought several times over in taxes alone. Don't get me started on states that luxury tax vehicles... but I digress

I usually will place boiling water to my thermos let it sit for 5 min and when I go to pour the coffee in the thermos is pre heated. Eggs DON'T have to be refrigerated if you eat them inside a week. Another thing you might try is get a funnel and crack your eggs into a container you can keep a lot of eggs that way and refrigerated. Sure you got to get another container if you use a water bottle it would work good.

Hey Eric. I have been watching your videos since you were in your 1st RV. The van seems to suit you much better! You mentioned you no longer have an oven. I don't want to get into the frackus about whether or not Nomadic is a shiester or not...but I do see others who are seemingly, and simply just plain jealous of him, or of his accomplishments. I'm sure Eric is not a perfect human specimen just as in, "me neither". But I do see Eric out there doing it...not just talking about it, not saying "Me too, Me too" but he's actually made a lifestyle out of it and he put's it into bite sized morsels for all of us to see. Lets face it, we'd all like to do what Eric does full time. I"m a little jealous myself, but to badmouth him becasue he's successful at it??? Uncool, and it just makes the haters look even worse. I've traveled in my van for a week or two at a time quite a few times, but continuously for a year??? I have too much tying me down to do that. Just becasue Eric has cut those strings that hold one in that position does not make him a bad person. I've read about him supposively ripping off the elderly couple with the RV purchase...(BUYERS SHOULD ALWAYS BEWARE) This is the hard part. Does Nomadic Fanatic go around just ripping off people and laughing about it? If so, shame on him. If not then shame on all the haters. Anyway, keep 'em coming Eric...I'd not want to participate with a a bunch of wanna'be's either as in a Florida Van Meetup...too much bad blood most surely will be there and you most certainly don't need that BS! Keep doing what your doing...and thanks for it all.

Nomadic life is more normal than settled. I have long thought that hunter gatherers live in the Garden of Eden and were tossed out to farm/city life. I have five acres, but it is a food forest. As close to hunter/gatherer as property ownership gets. There are about 230 native edible plants in each state, you could easily pick greens for your daily meals.
