Never understood why people were so mean to Molly. The poor idiot just couldn't adapt to gang life and wanted to be loved. Probably had a fantasy that Dutch was a charming rogue who would whisk her away to life of adventure and passion. Instead she got a creepy old man who quickly lost interest in her and a camp full of outlaws who either couldnt relate to her, or just knew she was going to be cast out in town at some point so their was no point in getting close. (Which would only make it harder to get along with people when they all see you as the fancy of the month, not long for this lifestyle). She might have even given Dutch her virginity, which as a high class woman in those times is a very impacting and limiting decision so she knew she was a 'ruined woman' qho couldn't go back to her old life but wanted no part of the new one she found herself in

The poem she writes sometime in chapter 4 is especially tragic and offers even more insight into what she was going through since gaining and eventually losing Dutch's interest. (It's on a side table in the Master bedroom upstairs once the gang takes over Shady Belle. You can pick it up to read it, but Arthur can't take it with him.)

I'd never heard her talking to Abigail, that was savage, but the truth sadly. I don't understand why people like Dutch, he's just a complete bullshitter and a narcissist, a manipulator who just uses people to get what HE wants and casts them aside when they aren't any more use to him, or aren't massaging his ego like Micah. Arthur found that out the hard way, Dutch has the cheek to say earlier in the game, I gave you all i had! Nah the ones who died following you gave all they had, and all they'll ever have He couldn't even say anything to Arthur when he's dying in front of him, half beaten to to death by his little pet rat and wheezing his last breaths to a disease Arthur caught doing Dutch's dirty work. That's why when Arthur says I gave you all i had, you better fucking believe it!

I felt like Dutch DID care about the gang... when they did his bidding. And that's the main reason they collapsed is because of him and his ego since anyone who called him out for his shortsightedness or rashness was just "doubting" and wouldn't pay attention to it or outright get hostile. Even though Milton was a grade-A slimy bastard, he was right in calling Dutch silver-tongued maniac.

Molly loved Dutch so much to the point where she started becoming insecure, jealous, possessive, and obsessive of Dutch. She could've acknowledged the errors of her ways and asked for help, but instead, she kept wandering around her own thoughts, got herself drunk, and made up an excuse just so Dutch could turn his attention back to her again. and it cost her life. But Dutch is not innocent either. It's true that Molly's accusations and assumptions about Dutch are just her making up her own dumb fantasies. But Dutch didn't even acknowledge the fact that Molly is just missing his love and affection for her. He never reassured Molly. He didn't show her how much she meant to him. He neglected her. He kept ignoring her feelings, which made her lose her mind. All of this could've been avoided if they talked about their situation together.

I mean, he was also kinda creepy with Mary-Beth in a conversation at the camp. I'd say Molly's suspicions weren't unfounded.
@PhantomThief79 күн бұрын
Um it was definitely NOT all in her head. Which has been proven not only in this video but throughout the game
@bitznazty14698 күн бұрын
Her suspicions certainly weren't unfounded- he apparently has a habit of getting bored with the current woman he's with & then going after younger ones, which is creepy af. He also makes it pretty apparent that he never stopped loving Annabelle, despite being in a new relationship. Having been with someone who did the same thing to me (only their ex was still alive) it definitely does drive you crazy & make you feel completely worthless. Poor Molly just wanted to be loved authentically- her only mistake in my opinion was that she stayed long past her welcome. Well, that & messing with Karen. And not doing chores. But you can't say she wasn't loyal, that's for sure. She was to a fault.
@nomadicgamer8 күн бұрын
That why people say you should sit and talk to your partner but here both are at fault cause Dutch was always thinking about taking revenge and about how we can get more money. Where Molly on other hand loved him 24×7 which is also not right cause the other partner thinks no matter what I do the partner will never leave and then they tend to get busy with other stuff rather than sitting and talking and giving back the love they get from their partner.

I really like the different perspectives Karen has developed towards Molly in terms of how she viewed her as a person, initially, she saw her as nothing more than a spoiled brat who wouldn't bother lifting any fingers for the gang because she lives off the fantasy of being "Dutch's little mistress", then her perspective changes as she starts caring for Molly's well-being when she notices her getting mentally volatile over Dutch and whatever else was bothering her and even going as far as calling out Miss Grimshaw for having her killed.

How Dutch treats her makes me feel like it's just proof he was always a bad person who masqueraded as a noble rebel against civilization and the government. He always had a "with me or against me" mentality and even at Horseshoe Overlook had his more menacing side pop out at times, such as when Uncle called him out for wanting to be an "American king with his knights" which pissed him off so badly he said he'd want to kill Uncle, before laughing it off as some kind of joke after the old man doesn't back down. In his own sense of things, but I'm not convinced that he was gaslighting purposefully I really think he admired his own delusions. It just got to the point where no one else understood their portion. People need a cause to rally round. It gives them a sense of purpose, like if they're good for nothing, at least they have that one thing going that works Fast draw, best rider, good eyes, intuition. What ended up happening is that Dutch couldn't effectively reward people for trying. He went on about staying together and that alone you get picked off, but it started happening anyway Even to the point where Arthur himself was held captive. So the people dont have a strong sense of what's supposed to work. And worse, they actually had tons of money. It's that Dutch wanted to keep them showing up to the office John was the linchpin to a life Dutch couldn't provide, having a son, it's like most people are conscripted to a cause. Military, sailing, surveyor, the railroad. It was rapidly transforming the country in ways that proved beneficial. Work guaranteed a homestead. A homestead enables a man to raise a family It's not that they were bad per se, being outlaws. The West was home to plenty vagabonds. It's that being a mob, they were addicted to the life with no outlet for virtue. This is the way of many churches, a collection of people who engage with emotive prospects, but don't have enrichment towards their own identity. In the wrong hands, it's a borderline cult The only difference is that the American constitution was founded on the liberty to explore outlets of faith or mantras. And there's enough space and opportunity to found your own brand. For good or for ill It's just a shame that we confuse indoctrination for community. There's an illusion of safety as in being a part of a gang protects you from a hanging after commiting murder. Dutch was guilty of this with his hostage situation and the gang was suffering the consequences of his sin. Life for life. Her life cost him and the gang Arthur's life. The solace being that Jack and Abigail could start life anew That's why I think it counted that John be married officially. It represents the union of two very distinct ways of life. In a sense Abigail is what Arthur couldn't lock down with his sweetheart because he was committed to his role
