You said mmmmm after finishing the sandwich then said worst meal ever. A little confusing for a lot of us. I’m glad you’re feeling better. Take it easy in Colorado. We went thru the mountains in Arizona and New Mexico and the sudden rise in elevation was a little rough but not too bad luckily.
@wendydonnelly4885 Жыл бұрын
Nomi, instead of your next hike being a walking hike you might consider going horseback riding with a guide and maybe one couple. That way you can still see the beautiful scenery of the Colorado foothills and mountains without having the breathing issues of the altitude sickness. The hike was stunning, but we could definitely hear you struggling to breathe. Please be careful and try to stay in low altitude until your body adjusts. Know that we care about you. I recommend getting a pulseometer. It goes on your index finger and monitors not only your pulse but your oxygen levels. If your oxygen levels get below 90 seek out help at an urgent care center or an Emergency Room.

Good job Nomi! Just a helpful suggestion: I hike often with my huskies. I have a friend that suffers from asthma and likes to go with us on our hikes. She started using Oxygen Plus energy and recovery ( blue and silver canister) which was recommended by another hiker on the path. After using it, 29:23 29:23 29:23 she’s no longer out of breath. Anyway, I’m proud of you and keep on trekking!! God bless and Be well!!

Hi Nomi-I’m a 5th generation Coloradan, so welcome! It’s a diverse state, and you should check out Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride & Mesa Verde before you leave-the beauty of the 4-corners area is unparalleled. One piece of advice-that a learned from an expert trekker-go slow and steady whenever you hike, especially the higher in altitude you trek. Be mindful of each step, each rock, root and the undulating terrain. Enjoy each step, take in the beauty in a slow and thoughtful manner. My guess is you heard insects in the brush and not rattlers-the cold streak Colorado just went through would have left them quiet. Please do think about buying bear spray if you’re going to hike in the back country-just remember, however, the animals are much more scared of you, and will avoid you if possible. Also-if you see a mama & baby moose, get away quickly & quietly-she will attack if she feels threatened. Enjoy this gorgeous state!

Hi Nomi!! Hey when you think about it, going from Florida to Colorado is an ascension in itself because Denver is still 5000 some odd feet above sea level. Going from Illinois at 600 ft was apparent to me. Also, the air is DRIER than Florida, etc. Some saline nasal spray might help your congestion. Take care. Peace to you ☮️

Since you been having trouble adjusting to the altitude if you want to be sure that you're okay you can get an inexpensive pulse oximeter at either Walmart or a drugstore. Most of them run under $20. It's very easy You just have to put it on your finger usually your index finger will read the best. I'm a registered nurse and as long as you're 92 to 100 you should be okay. You can check it when you're at rest and your RV or take it with you when you're hiking and just sit down and take it a minute to be sure you're okay. Then you'll know you're getting enough oxygen saturation in your blood stream.
