Yeh jo tourguide , private vehicle aur hotel ki pre reservation wala rule theekh nahi hai....SDF is okay....even one has to pay for entry fees to some dzongs,which was not reqd earlier .My first trip was in 2009 n multiple trips till 2015...n may visit next mnth via Paro ...you will reqd multiple entry permit for various regions...best places are phobjikha valley bhumthang valley,Thimphu,punakha valley,even haa valley n Paro is good ..

i am from Bhutan and i travel to India frequently. we Bhutanese mostly go to sikkim, dareeling and Siliguri for holidays and my personal expense in India is minimum 9-10 thousand per day. Taxi charge from bhutan border to siliguri is 4500 and most of hotel i stay are not less 5-6 thousand per day. including lunch n dinner its cost me like 9-10 thousand per day.. I think tourist visit bhutan not to see high building or express high ways.. people visit bhutan to see the real nature, to feel the true environment and to take clean air breathe and to eat organic foods ..

Well if you stay in 4-5 star hotels then obviously it'll cost that much otherwise if you book reservation for trains and then go normal hotels it'll barely cost you more than 3k-4k in your total expenses for a day or if you stay for 3-4 days more hotels gave massive discounts if you book hotels in advance through online apps but remember these are the costs of staying and of your own choose but what Bhutan are charging 9k-10k is just for entering in their country forget about living expenses that will cost 3k-5k/day.

I was in Bhutan coming via Jaigaon overland in early May 2019. That time as Indians, there was no SDF, and a compulsory tour guide either. For as much we support them with duel, commodities and defense, they could at least exempt us. Why were you not getting 1:1 currency conversion from Indusind Bank? The equivalent is 100 RS to 100 u. I used Indian currency for my entire trip of about a week in Bhutan. There was no terminal back then. Just a normal overland walk-way between Jaigaon and Pheuntosholing that you could walk back and forth as many times with only a simple check, and no basic fee either. Only from the immigration at Pheuntosholing, to enter into Thimphu and Paro there was the basic fee, and then for Punakha separately. I paid around 45000 for my trip including road trip with flights Goa-Kolkata, then Sealdah to Hasimara by train, driver Hasimara t Hasimara, and three star stay, excluding entree fees. They are ripping us Indians off.

Ya know what should have been a long time ago? No exemptions such as "free entry without having to pay the daily fee" to any tourists whether regional or international. Seeing the reactions of individuals such as yourself who can't accept changes, it only seems plausible to have done such a thing since tourism began in the country otherwise it wouldn't create this sense of false entitlement. You must be joking if you think they are "ripping" you Indians off. Check who has been ripping who by purchasing electricity at a rate much lower than the determined global average, or tried to interfere in the elections. You don't even seem to be aware of how, before the Sdf was introduced, individuals from across the border would enter Bhutan for picnics, barbeque, etc., and leave the place with their mess. Who has been ripping who now?
