I built my set-up using the Galaxy Tab Active on a RAM mount. I opted not to lock it on the mount (the box on the back of the bike can be locked). I don't think it has the full 1000 bananas of brightness, but I haven't had any problems reading it. I am working on using it to help transfer files off of SD cards to a LeCie HDD for multi-day trips. I was hoping it would work as the drone controller, but DJI' Fly app doesn't support the Tab Active tablets (sigh). I also have the Drive Mode dashboard, but with the map up I rarely use the Drive Mode app.

Hi there. You would need a mounted holder with power on both bikes. Then it's very easy to just put the pad on which ever bike you want to use. The bigger problem I think would be the controller. It is harder to move so perhaps you would need two controllers. Or accept using hands on one of the bikes. /Rob

Due to different makes and models of my bikes I "fear" difficulties with the internal settings (compatability) of the CI Pad... Did I make myself understood a little better?
@NomadSweden2 жыл бұрын
@@humoto1 There is no compability required for the pad since it does not connect to your motorcycle. You only need to mount the holders and supply power. If you intend to use the ODB-feature it will connect to some statistics but that is not a problem on any bike since ODB is standard.

Interesting indeed! But since I am not a tech nerd I am trying to understand whether this system requires integration with the user’s Android cell system or if it is also compatible with the iOS platform.....or if it simply doesn’t matter??

Its only for android phones and tablets at this point. Check drivemodes homepage for more

How about doing a kickstarter project and this way you can build a team. I am sure the community would be large enough to warrant it. Having a skunk works effort working on something as useful as this kind of solution seems like a great thing that will never come to market as a solid on going supported system.

Thork is leveling up and I believe they will do great things. If I did it I would not have time to ride 😊

@@NomadSweden after looking a little further, I see that this system called Carpe Iter is a full kit for sale. The total kit with remote nav buttons and brackets, is close to 2k. But looks like a interesting all in one solution. The question is, can it be mounted with that sturdy bracket system on many different motorcycles ?

There’re zillions of cheap android tablets (and less so ios ones) around. Why this expensive piece of hardware specifically? Is it another case of “if it’s for bikes, then double the price” or has this got a specific value? Thanks.
@NomadSweden2 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm not selling this product, but my main reasons is the screen brightness which is much higher than the cheap pads. It is very weather/temp-rugged and includes the lockable holder with powersupply made for the bike. Still much money but I think that are the differences from my pov. The good thing is that you can combine the things you do like, such as the controller, the software and use any android device you like.

Hi there! Which Android APP do you suggest to record in GPX file my routes?

Does drivemode 2 automatically turn on when using a mobile phone or do you have to select it as an app I Can't afford a carpe iter but would like to try drivemode 2 on my android phone with a controller but retain the actual phone apps.

Drivemode can be run as a permanent home screen or as an app. So you can still have your normal phone.

Per haps a tutorial later on. By ex, install the weather app "Windy". Then go to dash board (Home) screen and choose to edit layout. Then choose to add a android widget and choose Windy radar. That will put a weather radar on the home dashboard. Or any other widget you pick.

You will have to ask Thork Racing about the sales. But sorry no iOS.
@steveh5453 жыл бұрын
i was hoping for iOS compatibility too. I'm guessing that's an entirely different can of worms, getting Drivemode to work on an apple device. If it works as well as advertised, there aren't many benefits to developing an iOS version. Small outfit (Thork&CarpeDudes), so a cost/benefit issue. They can either spend their time perfecting the app for Android, or let that stagnate and work on an iOS version. Probably doesn't make sense. I think Thork is doing amazing things, so we shouldn't be greedy. lol. Great video!

Great video Rob. I have just started looking into this mapping solution over the last few days and I am extremely impressed by it. I am wondering though, there is a lot of talk in your video and others about upgrades and new things in the future that will be released. If I was to buy it today, would I still be able to get the future developments or would I be stuck with an early generation model that can't be upgraded? Do you know?
@NomadSweden Жыл бұрын
Thank you. The app is forwever (and often) updating so you are not stuck in a version. If you buy the Carpe Iter tab, everything is unlocked and free. If you download the app to a normal phone or tablet you pay to unlock the map section. Pay once or per month. But upgrades for the future is included.
