The truth can be seeen from many perspective and sometimes having a limited insight from a singular perspective can obscure the truth. Too close to something you might not get the full picture, too far away from something you might not see all the details. Thee truth is the truth. Perspectives are what people will call Their truth, or my truth. Yet it is limited skewed version of the truth. Without a full picture you can't know the truth. So when someone says My truth. They aren't privy to the truth. They are limited in what they believe to be true because they've not seen anything outside of their own perspective

@@frug5629 Yes. I was actually thinking about writing a satire like you described, before I'd even heard of this film. But I realized that the ideas I had, would cause the film to be cancelled. It would be very difficult in this day and age to appear to have an anti-woke message in a real film. The Alphabet people have seized control of Hollywood. It would be like trying to make an anti-Kim film in North Korea. That's why you can only find such material, on KZbin channels like this. It's like those "Big Brother is watching" movies, where the rebels have to broadcast the truth from secret hideouts.

@@Eledyy_ To act like people have no control over who they fall in love with is silly. It’s not like slipping on a banana peel. Love is something that’s only cultivated and built after spending a lot of time with someone. Attraction =/= love. People need to stop conflating it. You always have control over who you choose to cultivate and pursue relationships with. And that should matter more than the imaginary fantasies in your head that never actually play out. I’ve yet to see a single bi person that didn’t feel the need to continue to remind people that they’re ’still bi’ when they were in a committed relationship. For some reason, it’s very important to them for let everyone know that they aren’t content with just being seen as a boring ole straight person, even if they’ve been married to someone of the opposite sx for decades.

You see an alternative and choose to indulge in it. Someone who is addicted to drugs chose to do it in the first place, and they also chose whether they stop or not even if the drug is addictive and makes your brain think you can't live without it. Politics of this movie aside, it can be realistic for someone to join a group in order to write a paper about them. It’s a kind of social research method in which the researcher either openly discusses their reasons for being there, spends time with the group of interest, and writes about their experiences, and observations and what they reveal about the group or society. This is the ethical way. The not so ethical way is to join the group and become “one of them” without disclosing your motives (the not so ethical way). There are advantages and disadvantages to each approach. The open and more ethical way may cause the group to hide some things they don’t want known outside the group, even if the person pledges to keep it confidential. The other way yields more genuine behavioral results, but if found out, can create anger and mistrust towards you.

This movie didn't need to be made... It kinda reminds me of how Sandra Newman wrote "Julia" as a kind of spin-off to George Orwell's "1984", and some dismissed it as feminist garbage. I was curious about it, and the only way to give it a fair shake was to read it myself; it's not terrible, but I think it detracts from "1984" by merely existing and should be skipped. Misha could have not even bothered with this film I've never heard of but she went through it objectively like she does with things to give it a fair shake. That by itself is the important bit. Really, what Misha does is advocate for critical thinking skills above all else. That's something I really like about her, 'cause that goes beyond the pettiness of being Right or Left.

Honestly, if it were up to me, I would have it be the killer start off as something the camp counselors made up to "scare the gay away", only for an actual slasher movie killer to show up and take things for real. It'd force the campers and counselors to put aside their differences and work together, which proves difficult, and the real killer keeps having a consistent win rate by virtue of being the only character who doesn't care about the others' sexualities or religion. They're just bodies to add in the pile to him.

What am uncomfortable movie all around. And notable actors I was certainly not expecting lol. As a lib it's painful to see truth and scientific evidence suddenly thrown out the window. I know the new generation has kind of taken the reigns. Children far far too young caring about things their physical body have not even reached. On to the strange aggressive peer pressure in high school with no restrictions. Mistakes were made in the past regarding different sexuality etc. But that doesn't mean zip your lips to truth now. That hurts just as much if not more.

@@Somoutogomea No such thing as trans. There is, however, a thing called having low self-esteem with your appearance and the groomers promoting you to continue hating yourself. What an insulting movie. They could have made a black comedy horror movie, and left it at that. They could have set the film in an old abandoned camp, and the killer pick of the teenagers one by one until the film ended with the "final girl." Instead they decided to use the conversion camp story line. It's too bad when you see an A list Actor taking a role like this. Damn. Kevin Bacon sure must have needed the pay check. 🤦🏻‍♀
