This song was originally done by David Allen Coe, then by George Jones. David Allen Coe was one of the most under rated country artist from the 70s till jis death a few years back. Chris is a great talent and has a unique style and bluesy sound. Vocals spot on.
@Bill_N_ATX2 жыл бұрын
Well, David Allen Coe would be very surprised to find out he was dead. He’s not doing many shows at 82 but he’s still doing a few. Now George Jones, The Possum, is dead and buried in Nashville, along with several other singers who his family has allowed to be buried in the section of the cemetery he bought just for the purpose of having free places for down on their luck artists. DAC is one of the original 100% outlaws in country music. He’s mellowed as he’s gotten older but still has a hell raiser’s heart. I had the chance to see and meet him a couple times and he’s still a good see, even if he’s taking it much easier these days. On the other hand, you don’t have to take your life in your hands with the cowboys and the bikers and the hippies wondering if they’d get out of there alive.

Love your laid back style, kinda like Chris's music. You do have your work ahead he is on another level. I suggest to start off with "I Was Wrong" then go to "What are You Listening To". I think his talent really shines when he does a cover of an Allman Brothers hit called "Whipping Post" Greg Allman is in that audience and gives him a standing ovation. A phenomenal talent. For a vocal range demonstration check out "Sometimes I Cry" live at the Bing Lounge., Enjoy

This was an enjoyable reaction. Chris Stapleton is generally better live so pick his live performances over his studio versions whenever possible. The lady singing with him is his wife Morgane. She frequently performs with him and is an amazing singer in her own right. He didn't actually start out as a singer but limited himself to songwriting. He has written and co-written over 170 songs, among them six number-one country songs, earning him nine ASCAP Country awards, including the Vanguard Award. His songs have been recorded by some of music's biggest stars, including Adele, Brad Paisley, and Dierks Bentley. He has co-written songs with Vince Gill, Peter Frampton, Sheryl Crow, and Ed Sheeran, to name a few. He also wrote some songs for feature films, which are included on their respective soundtracks. In 2007, Chris Stapleton started as the frontman for the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers, which is how I first learned of him. In 2010, he started a Southern Rock band called The Jompson Brothers. In 2013 he started his solo career after being signed by Mercury Nashville. He surprisingly did not become an overnight success. However, He eventually did become well-known and has been unstoppable ever since. He has received numerous awards and nominations. He is the recipient of five Grammys, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, ten Country Music Association Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, and some others. I would recommend his live performances of Sometimes I Cry at the Binge Lounge, his Austin City Limits performance of I was Wrong, his impromptu cover of James Brown's It's A Man's World, his tribute performances to Prince and Aretha Franklin, any other live performance, as well as his music video "Fire Away". Be forewarned, the last one is a tear-jerker, no matter how tough you are.
