More videos on testing please because it's interesting to see how it's done and where welds can go wrong. Excellent video.

Thank you! I 100% agree there is hardly any videos on any of this!

@@Welder_Danea No problem young lady. Maybe as a certified welder you could put some welding videos on your own channel?

Some NDT technologies. Eddy current testing, can be used for welds amongst other applications. For working infrastructure (gas plants, refineries, oil rigs etc), Acoustic Emission, which detects growing defects (not non structural cracks or defects). AE can also be used for leak detection - it starts detecting at a molecular level - long before other detection methods. It is also used to test Carbon and glass fibre structures. X-ray diffraction can be used to test stress, and in 1 case I know off, crystal alignment/structure (jet engine turbine blades). Don't know if that is still being used. Rotating assemblies - Vibration analysis. Electrical and other faults - thermal imaging. Just a short list for anybody interested.

I was an NDT inspector, UT lvII and a CWI visual inspector did it in refineries and underwater. I'm surprised it's taken so long for someone to do something about it. There's a lot of vids about welding but not about N.D.E. cool do more about UT. And RT.

Why didn't the rt crew center pop that test piece? ALARA first always. probably would have been a 30 second shot and got it all at once.

Crew did not have a panoramic collimator
@Welder_Danea2 жыл бұрын
If they shot it panoramic they would have to remove the collimator which cuts the dose down significantly. Most companies don't commonly have 360 collimators. Without knowing their focal spot size, the Ug may not have been appropriate.
@moefugger2 жыл бұрын
@@Welder_Danea . Ug is only a guideline. Final acceptance of radiographs is based on the ability to see the prescribed wire, Also , its right in the code that you must use source side pennies when accessible by hand, They used film side pennies. At 2 minutes a shot external i would assume they were using something of a D7 film and 30 curies. Thats a 15 second shot centered to shoot the whole weld , instead of 6 minutes of exposure time.
