Arthas alwasy received so much hate =( I loved Arthas in Warcraft 3. Loved him as the Death Knight, loved him as the Lich King. Before WOTLK launched i wish there was a seperate faction like in LOTRO where you can play the creeps. I wish we could fight for TLK. Arthas has such a powerful story..Sad..but powerful.

So,Arthas is basically a Fantasy version of Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars (Except the fact that his backstory was written even before "Revenge of the Sith" came out) Arthas Menethil was a young prince of Human Kingdom of Lordaeron He was a handsome man with long,golden blond hair,and he was in love with a pretty and smart mage - Jaina. Together with Jaina they were trying to stop an unspeakably horrifying invasion of Undead. Driven by the will of their Master - The Lich King,they were spreading the plague across the kingdom. When Arthas was facing those forces - He realized that not only this plague was killing those who were infected - but they were resurrected as mindless zombies as well. He then realized that a whole city was infected by the plague,and the only choice was to slaughter everyone in this city before the transformation,or else it could be much worse. His girlfriend and his master - Uther the Lightbringer, thought that it was a violent and unhonorable decision///They left him behind when he needed them most..So the only thing he was left to do - Is face the Undead general Mal'ganis all by himself. To defeat a powerful demon,he started searching for a special, cursed runeblade "Frostmourne" He sacrificed his soul to take the sword and kill Mal'ganis,after which the war with Undead was officially over... But when Arthas came back to his father,the runeblade has already driven him crazy by the whispers of the Lich King himself....Arthas killed his father,destroyed his kingdom,killed his master and a whole paladin's order. He became a right-hand man for a Lich King. His loyal Death Knight..And soon has acheived the right to take the throne and became the second,and most known Lich King in history of WoW

@@HannaHsOverInvested Arthas was also the one who turned Sylvanas (That lady with huge eyebrows from previous cinematics) into Undead Banshee. She was an Elf-Ranger,and she was protecting the capital city of Elves,when Arthas and the Scourge was attacking it. Sylvanas was a serious pain in his ass, because she was using various traps and obstacles on his way to his mission when he was just a Death Knight. As a result - when Arthas finally reached her, he was so pissed, that instead of killing her - He turned her (and some of her other rangers) into an Undead, and forced her to obey him and slaughter others who she was protecting. It mentally broke Sylvanas,and she's still a complicated character,even when there's no more Lich King

I just want to point out that night elf wasn't the only one showing skin, 3 out of the 5 male characters where either shirtless or open shirt and showing as much skin as she was or more. So one could argue that all was fair with that.

Wrath of the Lich King was and still is my favourite cinematic from blizzard because Artha's story is tragic and it's continued from the warcraft games that was released couple of years back not to mention that wow was at it's peak during that era with 12 million active subscribers and god knows how many more on private (free, illegal) servers i remember waiting for up to an hour just to enter my account only for the server to be riddled with bugs, but i enjoyed it so much that even to this day i still play wow. PS the voice from the cinematic is his father talking to him before Arthas corrupts himself and kills him.

Aww I miss these. Watching them when I was young really made me feel like getting the game at all costs. But my personal favourite WoW cinematic is still “Wrath of the Lich King”. It was and still is ‘cool’ (hehe 🙊). And yeah being the Lich King is very Night King-esque (undead ice king vibe) A little backstory about Arthas; he was the main protagonist until, in a desperate attempt to save his people, seeked an artefact of unfathomable powers - Frostmourne (the sword he is wielding); which corrupted him. The trailer is much sadder if you knew that Arthas killed his father (during his descent to the darkside) but still turned out to be everything his father had hoped for (albeit in a sick and twisted way). You could see it from the contrast of his actions in the trailer vs his father’s speech about him. And to top it all off, the haunting vocals for this trailer is singing a song (though through a made up language) with meanings that’s basically “Long live the King”.

Seeing that you enjoyed all these Warcraft trailers I recommend the following Stracraft 2 trailers in order. (the trailers are not the opening cinematics) Starcraft 2 Ghost of the Past trailer (part of Wings of Liberty), Starcraft 2 Vengeance trailer (part of Heart of the Swarm), and Starcraft 2 Oblivion trailer (part of Legacy of the Void). Pretty sure you will enjoy em, and if you do enjoy all three trailers then I would suggest you watch the cinematic cutscene movie of each game if the same order; Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void.

I tried to warn you about Assassins's creed in commentary: "I think there is one problem with Assassin's creed trailers. These trailers are really good, but they are about cool action and visual element and not about story or characters, unlike the game itself". These old World of Warcraft cinematic trailers are not very great too in terms of story and characters, but it'll gets so much better. I still recommend to start with all Battle of Azeroth videos, i think you'll really like it, because it has consistent story and friendly to newcomers. Watch in this order: 1. The third video was a trailer to set the stage for one of the greatest written villains of gaming history. Quick sidenote, Lich king came out in like 2007 ish. so it wasnt from the game of thrones show, but it might be inspired from the books. Also kung fu panda was after warcraft 2 which had the pandaren race in it. pandaren monks may have inspired the kung fu panda themes

To be fair, World of Warcraft was (and to some extent still is) primarily marketed, and probably focus tested, towards young boys in the age range of 12 - 15... So you know, titties is a valid marketing tool. In fact, I seem to recall hearing, back when WoW was new, that Blizzard was actually surprised at how popular the game was outside of their targeted audience.

i will do my best to deconstruct each cinematic for you: the 'original' version of the game was set shortly after the collected races of Azeroth (the planet) repelled the Burning Legion and the premise of the game at that time was the underlying war between the 2 factions the 'Horde' and the 'Alliance', and as you say their tenuous pact of peace was crumbling and old hatreds had reignited the faction conflict causing them to fight amongst themselves, to break down each character you see in the cinematic: Race/Class: Dwarf Hunter (Alliance) Night Elf Druid (Alliance) Undead (Forsaken) Warlock (Horde) Tauren Shaman (Horde) Orc Warrior (Horde) Human Mage (Alliance) so in the cinematic we see the dwarf fighting the tauren, the night elf fighting the orc and the mage fighting the infernals (a type of demon) summoned by the undead warlock, the cinematic also shows class abilities that you can also use in game with your playable character and some of the spells that were iconic from the 'Warcraft' game series. in the second cinematic which is narrated by Illidan Stormrage the Demon Hunter you see at the end, he was a former Night Elf Mage, he had a lust for power not for his own ends, but as a means to defeat the Burning Legion for good, sadly his methods were very questionable and his people didn't understand him at all, for crimes committed against his kin he was imprisoned and kept there for 10,000 years until he managed to escape where he fled through the 'dark portal', (the great magical gateway at the start of the cinematic), to the broken and shattered homeworld of the Orcs known now as 'Outland', after his taunting introduction we see 2 new races that were added to the game with this expansion: Race/Class: Draenei Paladin (Alliance) Blood Elf Priest (Horde)

the Draenei people are a race of beings that have existed for millennia longer than the oldest races on Azeroth and came to Azeroth as refugees after their homeworld was taken over by the Burning Legion, the blood elves were also refugees but of a different sort, for millennia they drew power from the sunwell, a font of arcane energy that 'fed' them, after Arthas attacked their capital city with his undead legions to use the power of the sunwell to reanimate his lieutenant Kel'Thuzad and in the process destroyed the sunwell revealing that the blood elves had been addicted to the magic the sunwell had provided, so in the cinematic you see the blood elf priest 'mana drain' the mana wyrm for its essence to feed her addiction. in the final cinematic you see the now Lich King Arthas Menethil sitting atop the 'Frozen Throne', encased in ice after his 5 year slumber and finally reawakening, to understand the story of Arthas would take more space than the comment section would allow but suffice to say he is the greatest Anti-Hero the game world has seen he was the crown prince of the northern kingdom of Lordaeron, but after the plague of undeath had afflicted his people he vowed to find a way to stop it and cure those afflicted if possible, he is taunted by the dreadlord Mal'ganis (a poweful demon commander in the burning legion) to go to Northrend to find a weapon that could save his kingdom and defeat Mal'ganis, the cursed runeblade 'Frostmourne', after taking up the cursed blade it stole his soul and thereafter Arthas begins his descent into madness and corruption eventually returning to his kingdom the first death knight of the Lich King, where upon his return he kills his father sealing his soul inside Frostmourne and paving the way for the undead to rise and ultimately destroy his kingdom, he then returns to Northrend to 'fuse' with the Lich King and after a short time he becomes the Lich King himself. in the cinematic the narrator is the father of Arthas, king Terenas Menethil, talking to Arthas as if he is still a child reminding him of what it takes to be a good king and during this whole sequence he is raising the former brood queen of the blue dragonflight Sindragosa into undeath as his first 'Frostbrood' dragon, and his new mount after the destruction of Sapphiron in Naxxramas, and through the power of telepathy when she flies over the undead legions below (faction known as the scourge), Arthas takes control of all of them and bends them to his will. while it has already been mention it's worth saying again that this cinematic happened back in 2007/2008, and in fact GoT almost had a copyright lawsuit issue for ripping off this cinematic, if it wasn't for some of the names and slight tweaks to the show they would have been liable for copyright infringement due to ripping off this sequence.

HannaH's Over Invested it started as the RTS (real time strategy) game Warcraft 3 in which we are introduced to a lot of the characters including Arthas and his turn into the Lich King. The story is so deep and there are a lot of out of game novels that fill in the story too (just pre-purchased the one for the new expansion) aside from the expansion cinematics, during the Wrath of the Lich King they started introducing in game cinematics too. Definitely check out Nobbel87. His lore videos are a great start. He has a few over time that are the summary of the story.

The first and second trailers are just collections of vignettes, but starting with the third one (Wrath of the Lich King) the cinematics are much more narrative in form.

Capsule history in case you're interested: On another world, Orcs lived, were enslaved by demonic forces who addicted them to demon blood, and came thru the gateway (The Dark Portal in trailer #2) as an invasion force to conquer the Warcraft world, Azeroth. Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 were the wars between these Orcs and their flunkies, and the Alliance of humans, dwarves, and elves. Warcraft 3 takes place later, when a prophecy leads a young orc, Thrall, to gather up his defeated people and travel across the sea to found a new homeland. The demons are coming again, heralded by a plague that turns people into slavering undead, led by the former hero Arthas who has been turned into a death knight, and who later ascends to the throne and usurps the Lich King. Finally, an alliance of the Horde (the Orcs and their peeps) and the Alliance (humans et al) aided by the Night Elves (the purple elf ladies and their druid bros) fight off the demonic forces, and Arthas goes into a deep slumber in the northern wastes (until the Wrath of the LIch King cinematic). I trimmed a LOT out, but hey, it's a *capsule* history. :D I hope the list you're using includes the mid-game cinematics from the later expansions, which fill out the narrative.

These were the trailers for the original game and the first two expansions to the game. The first trailer showed a dwarf hunter with his bear pet, a night elf druid, and a human mage on the Alliance side and a undead warlock with his demon pet, a tauren shaman, and a warrior orc. Trolls (horde) and gnomes (alliance) were not shown. The 2nd trailer showed a draenei shaman (alliance) and a blood elf cleric (horde). They were new to this expansion. Illiad is a night elf born demon hunter. Demon hunters were added as playable characters in a later expansion. The 3rd trailer is Arthas, the lich king.

Vindicator Maraad (the draenei from TBC cinematic) is a vindicator (Paladin according to the game), and Priest is the term for the class the sin'dorei girl is, both lore-wise and gameplay-wise. But other than those two mistakes, the comment was/is correct.

Calling Illidan Loki really isn't that far off from the truth. A tragic hero that fights for the good, even if the so-called good guys shun and even hate him. Abandons his.... elfhood to become a demon for power, so he can hunt other demons threatening his homeland. Also, being scared of Arthas the Lichking is a 100% rational fear.

The reason why so many game trailers will look boring for you is that most games with story try not to show much of anything about story of the game as to intrigue people to play the game and learn the story from in-game. World of warcraft on the other hand is a MMORPG game which means its a game for massive multiplayer experience and its a very old game thus it has large engine limitations on what you can do in game to push the narrative experience. Like most of the story in game of WOW is just reading a bunch of texts with a few cinematics thrown in because of game limitations. A game like Assasin creed, for example, is a story-based game where you meet historical characters and see often historical events take place but with an alternative history twist of Templar/Assasin conflict thrown in together

You really need to react to Elder Scrolls Online trailers. Along with League of Legends, Overwatch and Star Wars the Old Republic, I think ESO is by far one of the best for trailers that tell a story. Plus the Khajiit are adorable.

@HannaH's Over Invested _ I came to see some of your videos for the last couple of weeks and i thank you very much for the content and your fresh way to look at things you dont know. iam also sorry for my english, its not my mother language :D - i personally think, that the Wrath of the LichKing Cinematic is the best one there is, because the irony of the words, that Terenas Menethil (the guy that speaks in the off) speaks to his Son (Arthas Menetil - the guy in the video) before he is killed by his son and he becomes King... not of their kingdom, but of the Undead Scourge. Those Words are so full of power, wisdom and meaningfull. But they can be interpreted very wrong. That and naturally the AWESOME music and sounddesign (as always in blizzard cinematics) make it to (in my opinion) the most best and awesome short mvie i have seen in my live.

Arthas is something of a tragedy. (and Warcraft's version of Darth Vader). He used to be a prince and a paladin who's kingdom was besieged by a plague of undeath. Finding a cursed blade that could kill the source of the plague and control the undead, he took it... And it possessed him. Now Arthas has become the very thing he tried to stop.

If you're looking for new TV shows to watch then i would highly recommend two shows. Firefly which is, unfortunately, only one season with a follow up movie, Serenity. It's very character driven with an old west outer space vibe similar to The Mandalorian but with more jokes and an amazing cast. The other is the 2004 reboot of Battlestar Galactica, it starts with a two part miniseries then four seasons of the show, none of which are long. Again, it's very character driven with themes touching on religion/philosophy, the nature of war, refugees, genocide, civil strife, compassion, what it means to be human, and doing so in an accessible way. That might sound too deep for reaction videos but the storytelling is compelling and there are plenty of moments of levity. It also has a great cast. That was a bit more rambling than I meant it to be but I think you'd enjoy both shows. I'll link the trailers. It's just the lore for WoW is so interwoven with the gameplay, cinematics, books etc. With the upcoming release of Shadowlands, a lot of the lore has been expanded upon (such as Arthas, who was the original Lich king, is it all an interdimentional plot, hint: probably). I think you're videos are fun to watch and you're picking up the lore just fine.

you must definitely watch some other Blizzard game trailers, for instance the Starcraft 2 trailers. There are 3 trailers, in order "wings of liberty", "heart of the swarm" and "legacy of the void", plus an addictional plot one: "Kerrigan betrayal". Imo they are more enjoyable for a non-gamer like you, as you already saw in other blizzard trailers (world of warcraft, Diablo 4, Overwatch) Edit: and you should take a look to the Star Wars the old repubblic trailers, very good stuff

Yeah... It's called the patriarchy. Male bodies aren't sexualized the same way female bodies are. Also the male characters in this trailer didn't have breasts. If the female characters didn't have breasts and were topless, that would be WAY more practical than a metal corset.

The big half naked exposed muscly man that are literally all over the place in fantasy settings. Having or not having breasts is kind of moot though a metal bra vs nothing at all is basically the same level of practicality. If anything they should be able to wear the exact same thing so if some males are topless than so should some females. Things aren't sexualized off the bat, people sexualize things. So just don't look at it sexually. It's the same argument that people use to allow girls to wear what they want to school and not be sexualized by people.

The average media consumer obsesses over plot and cool aesthetics. They praise action and cliffhangers, addicted to a cocktail of adrenaline and dopamine. Somewhere in their education should've been an English class that taught them about analyzing characters and themes instead of testing plot to see if they've actually completed their required reading. So many of the comments on the Assassin's Creed video and even this video reference deep lore and worldbuilding, intricate storylines and imaginative scenarios. You already know what to expect. Dunno if you're gonna read this but I just wanted to give my take on Arthas. I'm fairly certain Blizzard took to Arthurian lore when developing this character. There's alot of obvious parallels. So I think of Arthas Menethil as what Arthur Pendragon would have been had Arthur turned evil in the worst way. Actually, Arthur + Morgana = Arthas ... I'd say.

@@madmun376 I think it would be rather naive of anyone to think that the over representation of white people in media is not a direct result of our societal hierarchy. I often talk about that when it is apparent to me too. Representation is important. I wonder who exactly you hear complaining about these things. Often I find that there is a minority of very loud people with a message that doesn't make sense, drowning out the larger group of people who have logic on their side. For example, video games are too violent vs this is a game about killing women and robbing stores, I don't love that. Lastly, I really think a metal corset is never practical.

I often play a game called fallout 4, a post apocalypse survival game where you emerge from a Cryogenic Vault 200 years after a nuclear war and you're killing people from the go. Men, women, mutants, mutant giant insects etc etc scavenging for essentials and looting the bodies as you go . of course its a game of what if... and the vast majority of people understand that and for those who dont well they are always going to be a problem aren't they violent movies or not. i remember all the teen killer movies in the 80's (yes i'm old, a young British soldier then) and you had the usual band of doom sayers wanting to ban it all which was resisted by the media Because" Everyone agrees on what should be banned" don't they. start to ban stuff and before you know it people are burning books all over the place and that never leads to anything good. WHile the first Cinematic, from the launch of the game just kinda presents the various races in the game and has no real plot. Each following Cinematics for each Expansions of the game, has a more Narrative driven storytelling. Each time you'll see well knowed and Famous or Infamous figures of the Warcraft franchise, that players from the RTS games Knows and love/hate. There is a plethora of characters in the Warcraft universe, and the story can be really deep, but some of the most famous/Infamous ones are Arthas the Lich King, Illidan Stormbringer, the Traitor( the guy with the huge horns and wings), Thrall, Warchief of the Horde, Jaina Proudmoore and some others. Now the games and expansions, you either love it or not, but the characters and the universe of Warcraft is interesting, there's comics, novels, even the Warcraft movie.

Woo hey. Ya miss me? I’ll be doing another one of these “deep dives” into the WoW lore up until Wrath of the Lich King as succinctly as possible. It’ll still be a lot since this game has like 30 years of history behind it. There are many different forces in the WoW universe. Chief among them are the Light and Void. (I’m sure you can guess what they are). These primordial energies clash and create the Fel, which is a highly addictive and super chaotic form of energy. In the vast cosmos of WoW, there is a realm called the Twisting Nether which is made up of swirling Fel and houses an intergalactic army of demons known as the Burning Legion. Like all fantasies, WoW has its own pantheon of deities. Multiple, actually. Chief among them are the Titans, which are intergalactic beings born from the souls of entire planets. Their quest was to order the universe and help bring life throughout. Before we get any further, the Void has their own “deities” known as the Void Lords and probably the strongest beings in the universe. Fortunately for the player character, they’re deep in the vast reaches of space so they act more like a puppeteer pulling strings. The Void Lords eventually saw the Titans spreading life and sought to undo their work. They would try to achieve this by corrupting the world soul of a Titan before it was born. To do this, they flung parts of themselves across the cosmos that attached to planets with world souls in them. These parts became their own autonomous creatures known as the Old Gods which are parasitic beings that attach to these planets and work to corrupt them. The strongest of the Titans and the general of their army, Sargeras went about the universe to find more Titan world souls. In the process, he would round up the various demonic species as he traveled to and from the Twisting Nether onto a prison planet known as Mardum. One day, he came across a planet that was covered in Void and was alarmed. Peering inside, he saw multiple old gods infecting the planet and also saw that they were nearly complete. Deciding that a Void infected Titan would be stronger than the rest of them and would bring upon the destruction of the universe, a terrified Sargeras swung his mighty sword and cleaved the planet in two. (Should have noted that Titans are generally the size of Galactus from Marvel comics). Hurrying back to the rest of the Pantheon, Sargeras tried to convince them that in order to stop the universe from becoming Void corrupted, the only answer was to purge all life across the cosmos and start anew. The Titans deemed Sargeras mad and outcasted him. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, he went to the prison planet of Mardum and broke the magical bonds that had imprisoned the hosts of demons. In the process, the pent up Fel energies on the planet erupted outward and forever changed Sargeras into a demon himself. Thus the Burning Legion was born. We would later learn that Sargeras had also been corrupting his own Titan world soul and was using the planet as basically an infinite respawn for his vast demon armies. Fast forward to Azeroth. The home of the heroes. Azeroth is a world with a world soul of a Titan in it and possibly one of the strongest. Aman’thul, the leader of the Pantheon came across her (Azeroth is a she) but noticed something was wrong. 4 Old Gods had infected the planet and were working to turn the planet into a Void corrupted Titan. Reaching down, Aman’thul ripped one of the Old Gods off the planet but saw that her lifeblood came flowing out and reasoned that ripping the rest of them out would end up killing her. So the Titans left beings of order behind on the planet who would become the Titan Keepers. These Titan Keepers worked to imprison the rest of the Old Gods and had succeeded. But being super powerful, the whispers from these Old Gods eventually corrupted some of these Keepers and infected them with the Curse of Flesh. Part of the reason why the Keepers were effective were because they were of metal and rock, not flesh and blood. I think that’s how they say dwarves, gnomes, and humans came to be on this planet. Fallen Keepers who fell to the Curse of Flesh. 10,000 years before the events of the first Warcraft game, the Burning Legion tried to invade Azeroth in what would come to be known as the War of the Ancients. The conflict lead to an event called the Great Sundering which split the world apart. (Basically, everything was on one huge continent. Like Pangea.) Sargeras had convinced parts of the High Elves over to his side and with the help of their queen, let his demons into the world to try to wipe out the planet. The “YOU ARE NOT PREPARED” guy is a night elf by the name of Illidan who at this time was a powerful mage. But upon seeing the Burning Legion, he decided the only way to ensure his home’s safety was to join the Legion as a double agent. Sargeras took his eyesight and in return imbued him with Fel, turning him into a half demon. (He can still see energies and stuff. He’s basically Daredevil). When Aman’thul ripped the Old God from the planet, it left behind a well from which the planet’s lifeblood came out. This well of powerful arcane energy would become known as the Well of Eternity and was what caused a group of trolls to evolve into the elves. As Sargeras influenced the elven queen, she corrupted the Well and used it to create a portal to let the Legion in. Illidan, before the Well was completely destroyed, took some of the arcane waters to try to create a new Well. This was apparently super taboo in his people’s culture and along with him becoming a demon, he was labeled a betrayer and outcasted from society. The wild gods of Azeroth, along with the rest of the good elves, succeeded in driving the Legion back. Illidan was captured and imprisoned for 10,000 years. Fast forward that amount of time to the First War. This was when the orcs invaded Azeroth through the Dark Portal (seen in the second Warcraft video. The thing that gave you the Aladdin vibes). On Azeroth, there is a powerful mage known as the Guardian and Sargeras had managed to infect the baby in her womb when she was pregnant. That baby would later grow up to become the new and last Guardian known as Medivh. With the seeds of Sargeras’ corruption within him, Medivh would eventually create the Dark Portal on Azeroth and let the orcs of Outland in. Sargeras, after having been defeated 10,000 years ago, decided he’d send in the warring clans of orcs to try to weaken the planet. That leads to the events of the first game. The orcs eventually settle on a continent known as Kalimdor and recruit people to their cause, forming the Horde. Meanwhile, the Eastern Kingdoms were governed by one kingdom known as Lordaeron. (Think the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros all united into one.) The king of Lordaeron, Terenas II, had a son who he named Arthas. Arthas trained from a young age to become a paladin, an order of holy warriors, which is why in the narration of the Wrath of the Lich King video, Terenas calls Arthas “a weapon of righteousness”. The leader of the orcs from Outland (originally called Draenor before it was siphoned of most of its life) was a Warchief known as Ner’zhul. He was the first Lich King, granted the power by Sargeras. He was eventually captured by one of Sargeras’ lieutenants who destroyed his body and shoved his soul into the Helm of Domination (the pointy thing Arthas wears on his head). Kil’jaeden, the lieutenant, placed it on the Frozen Throne in Northrend. (Think super Greenland). Then they worked on turning infecting the planet with the Scourge in order to weaken Azeroth once more. Later, the Legion would whisper in the ear of a mage known as Kel’Thuzad who was outcasted by the order of mages known as the Kirin Tor for his obsession with death. Through his help from these whispers, he perfected the Plague of Undeath which is like covid if it turned all the dead bodies in its wake into mindless zombies and had a 100% mortality rate. Arthas the paladin eventually caught up to Kel’Thuzad who said the planet was already doomed in his villainous monologue. Seeking to find a way to destroy the Scourge (as these zombies were called), Arthas followed the whispers of Ner’zhul to the Frozen Throne and found Frostmourne (the ram skull sword from the video). It acts as a conduit and siphons the souls of those it slays, gaining more power from each soul it absorbs. Not wanting to be the Legion’s pawn, Ner’zhul had Arthas take up the blade. One of the dwarves Arthas traveled with noted the blade was cursed but Arthas was willing to bear any curse if it meant saving the planet as he was seduced by the whispers into believing it was some sort of super weapon. Arthas then killed the small army he’d brought with him using the weapon and turned them into the undead Scourge. Going back to Lordaeron, Arthas used the blade to commit regicide and become the next king. He then returned to Northrend and donned the Helm of Domination to complete his transformation into the Lich King as the two consciousnesses of Ner’zhul and Arthas fused. He then commanded his Scourge army to create a massive castle known as Icecrown Citadel while he sat encased in ice on the Frozen Throne. Later, after having regenerated all his energies, Arthas resurrects a dragon known as Sindragosa and this is shown in the Wrath of the Lich King video. I hope I got this more or less correct. WoW has had so many retcons throughout its history, it’s hard to get the full, correct story down.
