Unfortunately not. They are keeping the 5 speed gearbox. The cars have lost 80 kg but the intake restrictor is now 35 mm (it was 36 mm).

@@19Bozzy92 More likely all the vents and so on are still in place because these cars are still homologated for the 2024 spec and the rules dont allow for unlimited testing of the 2025 car. So what they did is just toss the hybrid part out and possibly change the restrictor because that was already allowed as seen with for ex. Sesks car in Rally Poland 2024.

I'm not an expert on the topic (and in fact I'm still looking for the definitive answer) but that was probably never related to the hybrid cooling system. Unless you have some interviews to share here in which the matter is confirmed by some mechanic, engineer or driver of the two teams, that white smoke coming out from the rear left of the car should be oil vapour from the crackcase breather that has to vent outside. As you can see it must be something related to some fluid of the internal combustion engine since the flow rate increase as soon as engine's rpms get higher (when Rally1 are static, the hybrid system should be in a steady state even when revving). I often see that vapour on some GT2/GT3-class race cars during winter testing, when temperature are quite low in the mornings, but I always forgot to ask mechanics for a proper explanation. Last but not the least it was also noticeable on F1 cars in 2018 as FIA banned Mercedes and Ferrari from reutilize those vapours (enriched of some other substances) on their PUs via the air intake and gaining some extra "boost". The smoke emanating from the rear bumper at 1:31 is most likely a result of pressurized fluids or gases being released from within the hybrid system. Is that a WRC1 Hybrid car?

So then, they're gonna be lighter, have a better power to weight ratio most of the time (as the electric motor was only part-time anyway), and the elimination of extra vents will mean less drag and possibly even slightly more downforce. All benefits, no drawbacks. Unfortunately, the WRC still has egg on its face, as these are now right back where the old World Rally Cars were, just uglier.
