1. When your friend said that he usually doesn't become affected by boy bands but genuinely liked BTS's message and style all I could think of was "The BTS effect has struck again." 2. I absolutely loved his reaction. He wasn't focused on the fact that their was a language barrier as well as other issues people supposedly find with them as a group and their style of music. Not only was he was open minded, he saw past what most people see as an issue via image(make-up), language, nationality or ethnic background, etc., and instead saw the message that they are trying to portray. 3. Please bring him back. I enjoyed every minute and would like to see him react to the other side of BTS, i.e. their funny side, as well as their dance practices, and other content such as live performances, them winning awards, and deeper and more emotional songs that didn't have a music video(lyrics).

So the song is targeted towards all the haters who said that he and bts would never make it because they came from poverty. So in Korea, Kpop is an industry, a real money making one. They have their tactics and it works, which is why many Kpop stars come from wealth, because they can afford the lessons and the everything else that comes with preparing to be a star. But it is heavily frowned upon to try becoming a k-pop star when you come from nothing. Which, most members of BTS did come from nothing. So he's basically saying fuck you to everyone who doubted them, because now BTS is the most popular k-pop group around the world and they've broken a lot of records and become the first to do a lot of things as a k-pop group.

Even more it's that there were 3 main entertainment companies with lots of $$ & power, but BTS's company, BigHit Entertainment was nearly bankrupt & didn't have the money or power to promote them or to fight back when the Big 3 were using their influence to keep BTS from being broadcast. To keep this comment shorter, I (humbly) recommend you learn about the idol industry culture & BTS early days to understand just what kind of achievements they are making with the recognition they are receiving now (From Nobodies to Legends, pt1&2 by xCeleste is a good start for early days). BigHit is now worth much more than the (old) Big 3 companies (SM, JYP, & YG) even though up until this month they only had BTS instead of the many groups, musicians, singers, & actors the Big 3 represented.

BigHit Ent. was also a very small, poor company when BTS were in their pre-debut and a few of their post-debut years. They had to have their own method of transportation along with provide their own food. And even though they were real K-Pop stars, they were fairly poor. It wasn't until their huge blow-up with success that they finally were able to do normal idol things. Both BigHit and BTS were ridiculed for years leading up to their huge success.

It’s just pure hiphop and it’s actually a little disrespectful that everyone just lumps all korean music into kpop now, especially considering the fact that kpop is not a genre but an industry. People like Agust D, Roy Kim, Epik High, Hwang Chi Yeul, and tons of other artists keep getting lumped into kpop as if it’s an umbrella term. It’s not a genre so you can’t call something kpop unless it’s specifically from the idol industry. Agust D is Yoongi’s non-idol side and should be treated as such.

Rap is part of kpop because again, kpop is not one specific genre. It takes from multiple genres and is an audio-visual package sold as a product, not a genre. You can be part of a kpop group and make music outside of what is considered kpop. Limiting artists to such a niche industry is the reason why even the general population of Korea doesn’t really listen to kpop and looks down on it. They don’t consider idols as real artists. Yoongi himself has expressed that kpop is a whole package consisting of many different elements. People limiting his side work outside of BTS to kpop as well is the reason why rappers still get pressed and diss him and Namjoon when they release solo work and work with renowned korean hiphop artists like Drunken Tiger.
