It teaches us sacrifice. We develop emotional attachment with the animal. We take care of it. It's not easy to sacrifice something u love.. Or u got attached with. But we do it for Allah's sake cuz there's nothing that comes closer to our love for Allah. It's called a sacrifice for a reason.. It reminds us that Prophet Ibrahim was ready to sacrifice his own son. That's the kind of faith he had. And that's the kind of faith we all should have..It was a test for him in which he suceeded. So it's a reminder of it too. Even it was his son but on Allah's command he was ready to sacrifice him. Which reminds us that we shouldn't love anything more than our Creator. It teaches us how we should be obedient to God. All these wordly things will stay here.. Our love for Allah should be above all. your belief and your love for Allah is all what will help you on the day of Judgement. This sacrifice is an act of obedience to Allah.

The SATTI rasam in India used to be very common thing. Where if someone's husband die due to some disease or accident or naturally so they used to burn his wife with him alive.. Because they used to say if someone's husband die so she have nothing left in her life. And they burn his wife with him. Now it's not very common thing in India you rarely see it just in village areas. But yeah other religion do sacrifice women and children for their sake.
