Persona 2: Eternal Punishement is my favorite persona game. It's the most difficult to beat though. My next favorite is Persona 5, the OG game.

I recommend reacting to the Persona Battle themes, it would take a while but a lot of the songs are awesome. I also recommend Shin Megami Tensei in which Persona was a spin off from. On a side note I also recommend the Soundtrack from the Mobile game Goddess of Victory Nikke. Cosmograph (Main Composer for the game) makes some sick tracks and not too many people react to these.

'OMG i just watched this entire video and I am SHOOK i thought my eyes were gonna bug out watching all the person 5 openings but then i got to persona 3 and i lost it. That scene with the rain in the forest is still one of my favorite parts in any game. And i gotta say i'm impressed by how consistent the series has been visually and sonically since the 90s. Some parts were kinda cheesy but overall this is one hell of a nostalgia trip. I'm not even a huge fan of JRPGs but i can appreciate how iconic this series is. Props to Shin Megami Tensei for keeping the fire burning. '

The Persona series was originally a spin off of the Shin Megami Tensei series. The game is about high school students who have a special power called personas and must use that power to save the world. but Persona 3 took the series in a new direction by making the game into two parts, a life simulator and a dungeon crawler, everything you do in normal life makes you stronger in the dungeon part of the game. The life simulator part has special side stories with side characters and party members called social links, when doing those stories your Personas become stronger and you get other bonuses. Thanks to that new gameplay formula, Persona became much more popular than Shin megami tensei, making Persona Atlus's new mascot franchise and after that it got a lot of spin-offs of its own. The games often get improved re-released versions with new content and story content, for example Persona 4 golden and 5 royal are improved versions of 4 and 5, and 3 Reload is a full on remake of 3 Persona 3 4 and 5 are not connected, they are in the same universe but you can play those 3 games story in any order you want. Every game has its own theme Persona 3's theme is death, it follows a group of high school students trying to cope with, understand and accept death in a world surrounded by it, as well as find their own reasons for living Persona 4's theme is "truth", as the characters overcome their own problems by facing themselves, helping them see past rumors and falsehood. 5's themes revolve around attaining freedom from the limitations of modern society: the story was strongly inspired by picaresque fiction, and the party's Personas were based on literary outlaws and rebels. but I would first play 5 royal because of the Handcrafted Dungeons, then 3 reload because it has many of the improvements from 5 and then 4 golden because it's a bit Rough Around the Edges but still great There are indeed a lot of spin-offs and most of them are canon sequels of 3 4 or 5. Persona Q1 is a crossover between 3 and 4 and Q2 is the same just with the 5 cast added only those two are not canon. Persona 4 arena ultimax is a fighting game spin off and also a crossover between 3 and 4 but that is canon, arena ultimax is a sequel of original arena but it has all the story content of the original so you can just play 4 arena ultimax. 4 dancing is a sequel after 4 arena ultimax and is a rhythm game and the story mode is again canon, Persona has amazing soundtracks as you could see in this opening such a rhythm game is perfect for the Persona series, 3 and 5 dancing unfortunately do not have a story mode. 5 strikers is a Dynasty Warriors game, it is a sequel of 5 and it is the best spin-offs in the series, don't let the Dynasty Warriors gameplay fool you this game can hardly be called a spin-off. 5 tactica is a tactical RPG but not a normal tactical RPG, it is more like the Mario + rabbids series and that is a good thing, it is canon but it is between the events of Persona 5 second and third semester. Persona 5 phantom x is a Japanese gacha game but it is one that you can play without paying money, it takes place in an alternate universe, with a new cast of characters, it has the same gameplay as the main series with a few small differences and every playable character that is added gets their own social link, it has a very interesting Story mode, it is only playable in a few countries now but a global release is confirmed, it is playable on your mobile but also on Steam and a console version is planned for later

If you want to get into the game franchise, don't worry about where to start. The only games immediately connected in the main line are P2 : Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment Best way to experience P3-P5 are through their "Definitive Edition" ports or Remakes They are- Persona 3 Reload Persona 4 Golden Persona 5 Royal Each game generally has its own theme, which is usually given to you pretty early in the game which is also why they have very different music and color themes for each.

play persona 3 reload first, its not the best but its the easiest to get into. the persona fandom agrees its the best story and its main theme is death, and aceepting ones mortality. it also recently got a dlc story expantion. also the ui is stupidy polished. then play persona 5 royal, its also pretty new and just as polished as persona 3 but it adds new things such as two extra socal stats (wich makes a ton of diference) and combat negotiations. out of the main line persona games its considerd to have the best gameplay. its main theme is rebellion and defiance. then play persona 4 golden since its the oldest modern perona game, coming out in 2011. its considerd to have the best characters and in my oppinion is the most persona- persona game. its main theme is truth and touches on topics like media manipulation and missinformation then if you wat to play persona 1&2 play them in order since there there story requres you play the previous game. the reson the not talked about as much as 3,4,5 is because the main draw to persona series is the calander system and the social system wich were added with perosna three wich is why we classify 3,4&5 as "modern person" then if you want to do any spinoffs i recoment persona q and persona q2 since there kind of modern persona story mixed with a muched more polished version of persona 1&2's combat and dungeon crawling. persona 4 arena and persona 4 arena ultimax are both fighting games, the main diference between the two being that ultimax has a fer persona 3 characters a few years after. persona 5 strikers is a wariors style fighting game, and a direct sequel to persona 5 (i havent played the story so i cant comment on it). persona 5 tactica is a tactical rpg set in the later part of persona 5's story, although it isnt cannon it still gives more depth to existing characters and adds 2 new ones (wich in my oppinion are the best spin off exlusive characters) and tactca a also takes a darker story tone. persona 3,4&5 dancing are rythum games (as you would asume) 3&5 do not have there own stories but do have small unlockable episodes witch give character development, although persona 4 dancing has a full story mode and is cannon to the timeline. the only other noteable game is persona 3 portable, wich was a psp port of persona 3 fes, to make up for removed gameplay features and fes's story expantion they added a female protagonist, wich considering these games are built around your characters relation to other characters changes the dynamic betwwen them alot and and a few new characters. the original persona 3, persona 3 fes, vanila persona 4 and vanila persona 5, although being diferent games have been made redundent by remasters and remakes. theres also a gatcha game called persona 5 the phantom x, wich i havent played since its a china exlusive game, is like an alternate universe to persona 5 and aparently the story is pretty good, the combat is also aparenty the best in the series (wich is a side effect of it being a gatcha game) but it looks pretty good from what ive seen. if you dont find anny of this interesting i highly recomend metapor re-phantazio. its made by the same studio (ATLUS) and keeps the polish in ui and music, and also has extremely similar time and socal features to the moddern persona games. although the progresion is verry diferent (and in my oppinion better). Whatever game you decide just keep in mind that when you play, plese take your time with the story. not only the chracter interacions but also the symbolisim will add a LOT more to your overall experence and enjoyment of the games. also when making dialog Decisions keep in mind the games core themes.
