Grocery store in a mall must be a Filipino thing? There is one Filipino grocery store in the mall in the South Seattle area, and yep, a Jolibee right next to it.

You can almost find everything in a mall in the Philippines, lol! That's why malls here are massive, it's crazy! You can easily get lost in a mall, lol! Here it's just ordinary to find in a mall a supermarket, hardware stores, appliance stores, bookstores, cinemas, restaurants, clothes & shoes stores, electronics & gadgets stores, furniture shops, hair & nail salons, spa & skin clinics, art galleries, bills/payment centers, arcades, ice skating rinks & even chapels all in one place. Name it, they got it, haha! I don't really know why they make it so big, maybe for convenience because it got all you need but malls in the Philippines are accessible venues where people can bond & Filipinos surely love to hangout with friends & family that's why malls here are pretty successful because people really patronize them. Somehow, it has become part of the culture already, lol!:-)

The malls in the Philippines usually have their origins as supermarkets or department stores (the "SM" in SM malls for instance, originally meant "Shoemart" - as in a store that sold SHOES). When they expanded they simply kept the supermarket part of their business, integrating it into the malls themselves. Pretty much every mall has their own internal grocery chain (and cinemas), in addition to the spaces they rent out to other businesses.

Yes!! I do some of that too when I go home. Meet up with some friends and go karaoke and travel by public transportation even if we have our own car there. I even take my son since he was 7 months old. He’s 8 now and based in the US but very well versed with the Philippine culture. That’s truly an amazing fun you had and it didn’t cost a fortune. I just discovered your channel and love it.

TJ, I found that spaghetti in the Philippines is very sweet. I tried every fruit I could find. I even tried to smuggle some back to USA, pero had to give up the citrus at US customs. Oo-oo, grab the Lychee, haha. What university was that? haha. Next time I am going for chicken feet. This is the street restaurant? Candideras? I struggled with feedback and echo on their videoke.

Spaghetti in Jollibee is particularly sweet because it's actually meant for kids, lol! Jollibee is usually a venue for children parties & Filipino kids and even the adults kinda like their spaghetti sweet, haha! We even have our own Filipino style spaghetti sauce meaning it's sweet spaghetti sauce apart from Italian style sauce, haha!:-) A little trivia for you guys, the complete name of UST is actually "The Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, The Catholic University of the Philippines" or simply The University of Santo Tomas. It has the oldest university charter in the Philippines & in Asia. It was given the title "Royal" by King Charles III of Spain in 1785 & the title "Pontifical" by Pope Leo XIII in 1902 & the appellative "The Catholic University of the Philippines" by Pope Pius XII in 1947. UST is the only university to have been visited by three popes four times. I don't know but it's kinda tradition that every time a Pope visits the Philippines, he also visits UST.

I really want to thank people like you, who still explores our beautiful country despite from what a lot of people are hearing from the news. I guess that bad stigma attached to our country is already there, and even the first world countries have the same problems. I mean, every country has its bad side. When somebody thinks about Southeast Asia, Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam will first come to mind. The Philippines still has a lot to offer. You should really explore "Old Manila" properly next time because there's a lot more that you missed, haha! You can check out 'SkyDeck' an outdoor restaurant on the rooftop of The Bayleaf Hotel inside Intramuros & it'll give you a beautiful 360-degree view of the city. You can explore Fort Santiago, Rizal Park & also Paco Park to have a little glimpse of our country's colorful past. These are just some of the more "cinematic" locations in the City of Manila that will give you beautiful footage & great stories to share in your awesome vlog! You should also go to Binondo district of Manila which hosts the oldest Chinatown in the world. Go there for more food tripping, haha!:-)

Great Vlog TJ all the food looks wonderful. Just some info for you the Beef Patti with grave is a old dinner dish that very popular here in North America from 50s to about the 70s. OMG. This is how I'd like to see a future adventure in the Philippines! Nothing but food and hanging out with friends! I'd love to return there sometime!
