You Guyss!! I tie dye my white hoodie and jogger using the crinkle technique. Created this BEAUTIFUL blue Cloud Sweatsuit using RIT Dye. I LOVE how the color turned out!!! Super cute. I do use huge rubber bands to keep fabric in place. Doesn’t leave marks. Also I dampen the clothing. Works wonders.

Lol done this for years with bleach… tho the trays are genius. The best way is to do it on grass. Then when you flip it, you won’t risk having any left over bleach/dye to transmitting onto places where you don’t want it, as you got more space to put it than just in place. Which is a problem when you do it in a confined space like a tray etc.

Good point in the left over bleach transfer! Thanks for sharing! But putting it on grass might kill them :( so I would recommend maybe pavement :)

I wonder if dripping hot water on a dry hoodie then doing the same thing with dye immediately after, if that would make a different color intensity throughout

Like you’re thinking to just drip pure dye on afterwards? I think that could work buy Just my suggestion, I would dilute the dye with a little bit of water still. :)

I’m super new to this so I have a few questions. Do you throw in the wash normally? Will the colors run? Is it not best to let it dry completely before Washing? And do I need to use any specific detergent?

Yes throw it in the wash normally (regular spin) don’t mix with other clothes. Yes, let the colors settled in but it does have to dry completely. You can even damp the joggers/ sweater first with water so the colors can stick to it easier. No specific ingredients just don’t use anything too hash :) hope that helps!

You don’t need to boil these! :) soak your hoodies in cold warm water, rinse and dye! :)

How do you get the white parts to stay white while washing? Every time I do with a darker dye the white spots always turn darker?

Hi! My suggestion let the dye sit on the sweater longer (might help the dye to settle into the fabric) then wash it in cooler water temperature :) I hope that helps!

Do you pre-soak your fabric in soda ash before tie dying it

I’m not sure what soda ash is but no, I think if you want to soak it in water before dying that should be just fine
