Also for all movies most of the collection will come from their Homefort, the population of the people in the state also will matter for the same. Also most of the theatres in Kerala are charging average of 100-150. All these factors will come. One thing you should look at is the profit also. If a 5-10 crore malayalam movie can make 100 or 150 crore and it can be a huge success. For Telugu cinema with the huge budget for it to be break even itself a huge amount is needed.

Loved the movie. 👍 This movie is not an investigative movie, it's a melodramatic movie with lots of emotions involved. So the mystery part most of them will know it pretty soon in the film. It's the ALTERNATIVE history part which is the mystery which shows every one matters even if they are not big. The blend when they bring the past & the current period is smooth. The highlight is the movie's screenplay, story & script which is so engaging & tight which opens up lots of possiblities, yes even the super natural 😜 Kudos to the writing department to bring out another beauty of a movie. Even the low point of the movies are elevated because of the writing of the movie. Another movie which can be REMADE into almost any language.

As he said “you need to know the context” . It’s not a perfect movie but has lot of clever writing elements . Even the tail end might be odd and a stretch for non malayali audience . If you keep your expectations low you will really like this movie

There is a character arc for Asif, but you need to pay really close attention to get it. You can see him writing a cheque of 15L, i think he was giving it away to the victims family because he feels for them, the victims sister tells asif that she got stuck their waiting for her sister to rerun, that's a throwback to what that old guy who died early said to asif " Dead is a guarantee, but people who are waiting for their loved ones to return that's a bigger pain" This quote is stuck on Asif's mind. He feels for the sister and gives away his gambling money to them with that mammootty letter i think and makes them think mammootty gave them that money.

@@NonaPrince but he did write a 15L cheque though ( the time when jagasheesh calls him in the end he was writing a cheque) , he was giving away the gambling money , and the victim's family is the only possible payee i can think of. He must have kept the cheque in the envelope along with the picture of mammootty. Because that's the next scene we see, even though they dont show it in the movie, as audience we can connect the dots

It's funny that you mention the boring part was the "door to door investigation" when that's the most grounded aspect of the movie that you laud it for. That's how most police investigations make headway, be it the guy he recollects seeing or them narrowing down on to one specific case in the case register records from back then.

I think a lot of the scenes got lost in translation. For eg the youtube video of an interview given by a crew member of kathodu kathoram has an interesting backstory in real life. Likewise a lot of scenes and characters they'd shown have such backstories which would have made sense to a lot of malayalee viewers who are aware of such back stories. End of the day it wasn't a perfect execution but a lot of such scenes invoked the nostalgia in a lot of us malayalee viewers.
