Welcome to my tutorial. In this tutorial I will demonstrate the step by step process on how to start the yoke of this men's X-Large Sweater pattern. It starts with a HDC Foundation chain and increases! I willl show you on how to split the yoke for the sleeves! I use Loops and Threads Barcellona yarn, with a size 7 mm hook!
Welcome to Nonna's Stitching Lounge with Rosie Em. I love yarn, crochet and knitting. I like to share my unboxing of yarn and finished projects. One day I will be doing tutorials and share written patterns. I also am addicted to shopping for yarn and I will take you on shopping trips! I do yarn reviews, comparisons and online shopping comparisons too!

The chain count depends on the bulkiness of the yarn and size of crochet hook. You want to get a sweater your son wears and measure the neck. Chain enough to go around the neck.

@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281 2 жыл бұрын
I don't have a stitch count. I would suggest that you use a lighter yarn (this was bulky) or a smaller needle and just measure the person's neck. Also ensure that the stitch count is divisible by 4 for the increases. Hope that's clear.

One question for this lovely sweater, the increase in shoulder, do i also include those increases as fpfc and dc before i do dc-ch2-dc. I didn't at first and the shoulder was flat. Tx
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281 2 жыл бұрын
There isn't an increase "in the shoulder". All increases are the DC-CH2-DC at the four points. You should follow the FP, DC pattern as already established by the row before. The other place this might happen in during the decreases in the arms. I hope this is clear.

Thankyou so much for the step by step guided instructions for this pattern. I have a question. I am using a size 4 hook. So I may need extra stitches. In that case what should be the multiple for extra stitches?
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281 Жыл бұрын
I don't have those kind of details available. I would suggest that you measure the radius of the neck hole you would want and ensure that you have the right number of stitches. Always make sure that it is divisible by four so the increases at the arms are equal.

I would love to make this for my husband, how ever he needs a USA size 4X. How do you recommend to alter the size XL for the size diffrence?
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281 3 жыл бұрын
Its all about measuring and trying on as you go. I would suggest you do a foundational chain and measure around your husband’s neck or one of his old sweaters that fits. The four increases need to be spaced evenly so try and chain a number divisible by four. Do the yoke the same. Measure from the beginning of the yoke to his underarm. When it is long enough split for sleeves. Add some stitches under the arm for the circumference at the top of his arm.

@GVSepulveda 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you so much for this great tutorial. This will be my first time doing a top down crochet sweater. I have encountered a little issue when finishing rounds though: somehow I can’t get my first sleeve to increase as my second sleeve as I add more stitches. When I am ready to build the armholes ( after 11 inches from the beginning), I always have a lot less increases on my first sleeve ( beginning of rounds) than in my second sleeve. Do you have a step-by-step written pattern available for purchase? Thank you so much!
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281
@nonnasstitchingloungewithr7281 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I have not got around to writing a pattern. I think that as you are making the Yoke, you might be missing a stitch where you are doing 2DB Chain 2DB. As you are going counter clockwise, there is a stitch between the increase and the existing DB below that always gets missed. I wonder if that is the issue?
@GVSepulveda
@GVSepulveda 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Thank you so much for replying to my comment! That was exactly the issue! I started over about 5 times until I figured it out. The sweater turned out great, my husband loves it! Thank you so much😊

Sorry, I don't have any other sizes, however, I would just add more stitches around the neck and then keep increasing under the arms until it fits the person you are making it for. This will add stitches to the torso and the arms.
