I really like the concept of the video and I think it was very well executed. Having tried all but AVLO, I will happily ride Iryo because to me they provide full-service at a really competitive price. About the "1st class" on Ouigo: This was the actual 1st class when the trains were regular SNCF TGV trains. I remember them being just like that when I rode the Paris to Stuttgart route more than a decade ago. I may not be a fan of SNCF, but they seem to be keeping their trains well.

I was going to suggest comparing different trains on the same route, and you beat me to it! I'd also be curious about traveling between two cities that would require a transfer, showing which companies are easiest to deal with, and what happens if a delay causes someone to miss a transfer. And for a suggested ride, I know it's been mentioned before, but the Mount Washington Cog Railway, in northern New Hampshire, is amazing. It's quite old, dating back to 1869, and only a few minutes long, but the view is absolutely sensational, and there's a hotel and a research weather station at the top. If you can manage it, going up in October, when the leaves are changing, would be wonderful.

Schienenzeppelin In 1930 Franz Kruckenberg invented a revolutionary rail vehicle: a kind of zeppelin on wheels, made from lightweight aluminum, driven by an aircraft engine and a propeller. This futuristic manifestation set a world record with a speed of 230 km/h, only surpassed in 1954. Even after some modifications the Schienenzeppelin was not suitable for regular service. No carriages could be attached, the propeller was dangerous and most tracks were not suitable for such high speeds. Consequently the Reichsbahn developed its own Schnelltriebwagen in 1932.

Dear traveller, on some SNCF LGVs (for example the "LGV Est européenne") there is both the classic TVM 430 which equips almost all French LGVs, and the European system called ETCS Level 2. Since the signals specific to the European system called ETCS Level 2 are rarefied compared to the signals of the French type TVM 430, I kindly ask you: who picks up the radio signals of the European system called ETCS Level 2? Why are these signals placed with greater intervals (approximately one signal of the European system called ETCS Level 2 for every 4 signals of the TVM 430)? Thank you very much for your availability and for your precious collaboration

Just a shame there's so few journeys. Second choice would be Iryo as I think you're paying more but getting much more for your money. If I'm going to pay more I want to feel that it's worth it. The third choice would be AVE, I've always found them to look a bit bland but they do the job, even if a bit on the expensive side. The last resort for me would be Ouigo, the interiors look really garish and although I like the idea of sitting on the upper deck, even just watching videos and seeing pictures of it feels a bit claustrophobic. I think I'll give that a miss.

Iryo is my pick. It is a full service operator unlike Avlo and Ouigo which are properly low cost. Despite that, it manages to offer so much more and at a higher quality than most European carriers for a cheaper seat price. It might not have the executive class like Trenitalia's own offering in Italy and France, but it still manages to offer one of the highest quality seat and meal offering in the entire continent, IMO. Their brand of catery, Haizea looks very great, and I love its identity. I personally would go to Spain solely to ride with that operator! Tho from what I gathered from the others, I guess I have some notes to add. Renfe is probably gonna get better as soon as they get the Avril. They are going to need to improve their service which was already okay, albeit expensive prior to competition in order to stay ahead of the game. Avlo looks fairly standard for a low cost operator, but admittedly a tad bit more comfortable than what I'm used to. OuiGo Spain hits home as a formerly regular user of OuiGo France. OuiGo France is, in my personal opinion, terrible. I used to use the service from Paris to Bordeaux during my studying years. It failed to uphold maintenance and its announced low prices as more often than not, their prices were even higher than InOui, the flagship service. I ended up getting a discounts card solely to avoid them. The pricing was too high but the amenities were almost inexistant, good thing the seats were at least somewhat comfortable. Also barring the fact that there is 0 support for foreign visitors of the once most visited country in the world for a long time. OuiGo Spain howeve is low cost done right. There are options, the pricing is a lot fairer even two year after their start of their services. I think that I absolutely wouldn't be upset if I have to ride with them, this is clearly a step in the right direction, minus the luggage option, but I guess they need that for a bit more flexibility on their budget.

OuiGo France does neither have large seats (but a similar booking for just a "quiet section" with a power socket) nor a bar coach and no entertainment or wi-fi. It should also be noted that unless you book OuiGo France trips via SNCF Connect, there is no English language support. OuiGo Spain is different, having those large seats and a bar coach, and offering an English website as well as announcements on board (even including Catalan, which is very rare!). Both operators have a luggage restriction that is similar to airlines: In short, a hand bag and a cabin/carry-on is included in the base fare, but bigger luggage must be added as an option, and in theory, only those may use the racks at the end of each carriage.

I always found ALL the talgo trains to be ugly. Totally agree on the Iryo.

Without having taken none of these i would go for Iryo as those ETR1000 are awesome

Been on Iryo last month. Well worth the premium to travel in First and have a meal on board.

You see that beautiful iryo livery? Now in italy they are replacing it with a much uglier one. Ffs

I agree, I much prefer the old one!

The loud and over stimulating pink and blue seats on OUIGO is a visual assault on the senses. It may be perfect for a busy child's playroom but not a coach interior which should offer a calm and relaxing ambience. The decorator should be fired immediately.

That's the Ouigo way 😂😂
