Indians don’t understand the concept of First Class when it comes to train travel. You cannot reserve your berth or the cabin. You are allocated your berth and cabin 4 hours prior to departure. Second, the berth and cabin layout dates back to the 40s or the 50s generally offering no privacy and having to share the cabin with 3 strangers for an overnight journey. Not suitable for women traveling by themselves. Don’t know if they will ever find enlightenment and arrive at the 21st century.

Those "interconnecting doors" . . . just as in hotel rooms, are a SCOURGE. For the very odd time they are used (I would guess, on the train, almost NEVER!), the rest of the time they eradicate a privacy barrier that is highly desirable. Even if travelling as a "party" it's hardly a major thing to use the corridor to get from cabin A to cabin B.

It's a bit disappointing that even on sleeper trains, there's no proper dining car offering freshly cooked meals instead of pre-packaged food and snacks. Not to mention the lack of tablecloths and proper service. However, the Caledonian still provides a proper dinner service on their trains.

Fantastic journey. I get excited to make a trip there frim Calcutta, India. I think once the 24 hr tkt is valudated in metro/tram or bus during 1st journey , all other journies dint need any valudation .Thanks.

I did this journey in reverse in May last year, in a Club Room. I agree with everything in this report as I found it very comfortable with good food and great service. The train arrived at London Euston early, from memory about 15-20 minutes.

I have travelled 2nd class before. Fun.

We took the Caledonian from Edinburgh to London, it was very comfy and definitely a bucket list tick! The bunks were surprisingly comfortable

Great trip. Another trip with Mr. Paul Lucas and surprisingly met Mr. Mark Smith. The winter vibe with snow makes this trip amazing.

I wonder why so much trash is seen near the track. Will it cost a mountain to clean it up. I appreciate this vlogger for ignoring it. But it is expected from Indians now to trim up the tourist places at least.

I have done all the portions of this service, when it was the previous stock, both Mk1, and Mk.3s..I do want to give these a try, as I have heard a lot of negative comments since their introduction..your trip shows what can be achieved..and is good to inspire people to do the trip..my only gripe about this service is the cost..I feel it is over-priced for a decent cabin, and the food is more over-priced for the measly portions you get..I have had meals on this service to F.W. but it was reasonably priced on the Mk3s..Those ridiculous seats with low backs, I expect will not be comfortable, probably digging into the base of your back, due to the motion of the train, the WH line has a lot of curves. the seats looks nice, but like a lot of seat design these days, comfort does not seem to be a priority...I am thinking of doing the seating one way..the try a cabin on a second trip..thank you for an insight into the journey..always good to see a passengers experience..

Hard to follow this. You jumped around between reviewing the 3 options so it was hard to follow. When you then went into getting to the stations, it was confusing about whether or not the bus or train got you to that point.

We stayed 2 months in Switzerland in 2023 and the train rides are always on time. We stayed in Lugano for a week and visited Locarno where we had the best and biggest crepes. But also the Bernina express from Zurich to Tirano is something you don't want to miss, we have done it 3 times and still want to go back. And next time we gonna do this Centovalli express for sure.
