Video Summary:
The muscle spindle is a sensory organ to sense the length of the muscle. It is made up of intrafusal fibers which are of two types: nuclear bag fibers and nuclear chain fibers. Their mid-portion is sensory and is innervated primarily by type Ia fiber. The ends are contractile and are innervated by gamma motor neurons. Upon sudden stretching of the muscle, the spindle sends a signal to the spinal cord. Here the sensory neuron directly stimulates the α motor neuron resulting in reflex contraction of the same muscle. This stretch reflex prevents sudden changes in muscle length.

Can u explain the reflex action when there is sudden decrese in length of muscle. Stretch means to lengthen not to decrease. According to ur lecture if 1a fibres stimulate alpha motor neuron of same muscle fibers then they cause muscle contraction. How come they cause relaxation as u mentioned it just by a sentence and escaped from explaining (6:19)
@NonstopNeuron
@NonstopNeuron 14 күн бұрын
upon decrease in muscle length, the signanling from 1a fibers decreases, so without stimulation of alpha fibers, the muscle relax.

Hello pls i can't get a point: i can't understand how the contraction of peripheral part of intrafusal fiber lead to stretch of muscle spindle? Cuz i can't imagine it if the peripheral part gonna contract this will lead to central part contraction

It's like two people pulling both hands from opposite ends. It will stretch you.
@houriak848

@@NonstopNeuron ahh so the direction of contraction is from inside to peripheral this way it will be shortened and the central part stretch
