Bro, when will topson mentally process dazzle shard is good. Even on ladder his dazzle games go to shit 4 times out of 5 because he refuses to buy shard, he was given first blood, then a dominating streak so early on, yet managed to fall all the way behind due to hia terrible dazzle itemization.

Buying shard will always delay your core items significantly, in competitive games, a delayed defensive item as bkb or manta can have huge impact, so unless the shard is very broken or essential to your hero design, most of the times it will be bought later or it will be adquired via tormentor

For example, dazzle core needs: early fighting items, aghanim, some defensive item (bkb/manta), and you will consider buying blink, travel, octarine depending on what you are needing, so you see, shard is very good, but if you buy it, it will delay the others items that you might have needed much more, and one teamfight that you are not with the correct itemization can be fatal and snowball to your defeat.
