I think he misses them on purpose, as to not activate Star Power too early. You get points for hitting notes within the freestyle [solo] but if you don't want to activate star power just yet, then you miss the green note at the end.

Added weight for more feel to the hits (or at least why I use heavier sticks like that..just not ~that~ big). Also, it's the Good Wood, so their free to beat the crap out of them with no worries. Probably feels a lot better with heavier sticks on that kit.

Depending what stock kit you get depends on what Sticks you get.. With an EL you get 5A's with QM you get 7A's and, it's much better in my oppinion to use 7A's with Rock Band because you tend to hit harder the faster you go, but for real drums, 5A or 5B is perfect :)

No its not gonna matter, the middle pads are just there to stop screen like texture and soften the sound. As long as you hit the pad, it will register the hit.

YES. I have them and they are excellent. They are as responsive as goodwoods and they make rolls way easier. THey are pretty quiet too

@bgg22bdrtyg the ion drum rocker's pedal is amazing, its better than any pedal i've used, I've used a rock pedal, regular rock band pedals, and a kick trigger (what hes using) and the ion drum kits pedal just blows them all away.

From what I've experienced, the Ions have good rebound, they are quiet, the pads are comfortable, but the set itself can be rather irritating because it moves around so much, judging from the price, to me, its not really worth it. While the goodwoods are much less money than the ions and have a good setup so you wont have to convert from an old RB1/RB2 kit like you would with the ion. They have even better rebound and are even quieter. My choice would be the GW's if you want to save a few bucks.
