Great video, Adwoa. I appreciate that you're not afraid to speak your mind. For me, every perfume is a luxury item because I don't need them to survive. Maybe it's because of my background. When I was growing up, I couldn't afford even a deodorant.

I consider a luxurious fragrance one which makes me feel like I smell expensive regardless of the price point. A luxury brand is one which prices its fragrances above 120 dollars regardless whether I think thefragrancesare luxurious or not. So in my opinion, a luxurious fragrance can be a cheapie and/or a hidden gem or underated. And I do agree that a hidden gem/underated can be any fragrance at any price point but one which is not hyped. A cheapie is anything below 30 dollars. A must-have for me is all fragrances I can't part with and which I am usually excited to wear.

Cheapies are definitely subjective and depends on your social class + family size. For the average middle and upper middle class American it's something you don't hesitate to spend on an often basis. Which is usually around $50. Again I agree with Adwoa on this one💕.

In the end, buy what you want whether its luxury or a "cheapie." If it smells good, I'm going to wear it and if I choose to spend money on a high end frag, then I will. By the way, isn't it all "subjective" anyways! ❤❤❤😊

This is very needed! So many of these terms are individual. A luxury brand to me is one that gives me a 5⭐️ experience from order to juice in the bottle. A cheapie is less than $30. Great video!

A good point there! The experience from order. That alone can change one’s perception about a brand and die out all anticipation if the order process do not go as smoothly! I agree. Thanks for raising that point 👍❤️

what you said about luxury is the typical opinion of the nouveau riche. 💯 That's why I only buy Middle Eastern perfumes. I despise so-called luxury, I am disgusted by it, because I grew up in an old-money family, and I know exactly what the difference is between real value and fake luxury. I would never buy something that could be produced and sold profitably at a tenth of the price. Giving the difference to charity is a real luxury - at least I was told this, and so I agree with this too 100% :)

Here are two other terms used interchangeably that drive me crazy...Macerate and Mature. Also, I feel like some Middle Eastern fragrances are becoming even lower quality. It seems like ever since they have gone viral they are pushing them out so fast. There are new fragrances by various houses every couple of weeks! It irritates me that they all are smelling the same in the dry down. I feel like each house has 4 base formulas, and they just add different oils here and there to create something new.

Oh no not maceration and maturing 😂 Some of the houses are doing too much with how many chime out on weekly basis so I do agree it definitely compromise on quality There’s the market so they are ready to deliver just about anything….😊

At the end of the day, buy what works for you because it all boils down to our personal opinions. A fragrance may smell luxurious to me and smell like a cheapie to another person. Another fragrance that is $20 dollars and above may be expensive to me but a cheapie to another. I have customers that see fragrances that are $50 $60 as cheap and fake 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ so you see, everything has to do with our personal opinions.

Very interesting Topic Adwoa . I feel that a lot of these words are used subjectively and relatively. For me, Luxury is anything that gives me a certain level of comfort, satisfaction and pleasure, and it can be very inexpensive. Hidden gem is anything that is not trendy or hyped up, that one discovers by chance.

Good afternoon Beautiful Adwoa!❤❤❤❤ Luxury for ME is any company that makes you want to work for that fragrance and in exchange for your money, they make the fragrance buying experience memorable! From the ease of purchase, to packaging, to special perks like inscriptions on the bottle, full concierge service. I also look at the fragrance house. Do they have Master Perfumers? Do we know them by name and by their creations? My current favorite master perfumer is Mohamed Iqbal Abdul Sattar, the owner of Khadlaj Fragrances. He has over 40 years' worth of perfecting his craft and his fragrances show that.

Oooo this is an interesting one! My 3 cents😅: I think people are using niche, luxury, expensive and fine interchangeably. Luxury is based on how extravagant something is and how it makes you feel. Which is why people describe things that are not necessarily high quality as having a luxurious feel. Luxury brands (although not more recently) use to provide fine or high quality products. Now, they're providing lower quality for higher prices. I digress lol. Also, a lot of luxury brands source from the Middle East, as well as, third world countries. Which I find amusing and a bit humourous. Amouage is a popular luxury M.E. fragrance brand. That in fact was made for royal people. Arabian oud is another but those are the only luxury middle Eastern brands I'm familiar with. I'm sure there are more. But the affordable M.E. brands I agree with Adwoa; although they may have a luxurious feel. I wouldn't consider luxury brands.
@adwoalovesfragrances5324

Yes I agree Vee. Some “luxury” has become fast fashion money grab just as the rest unfortunately and diluted their brands. Hence some are trying so hard to bring back their exclusivity and unattainability. Some of these words are used interchangeably and also mean differently to everyone and it also makes sense you know ☺️ Your input is really appreciated. Thank you ❤

If we are going by your description of luxury, then the real middle eastern frags(not the dupe houses) are the real luxury because they are the originators of frags as we know today. Nowadays I don't even consider most designer houses luxury because their raw materials are not as quality as they used to be
@adwoalovesfragrances5324
@adwoalovesfragrances5324 Күн бұрын
Yeah the lines are blurred with the term luxury now. That’s why you see these “luxury houses” constantly trying to describe themselves as exclusive and wanting to be unattainable to a certain population sometimes 🫣

Thank you dear Adwoa, I love this video and it something so interesting to address. You nailed it. I also would consider cheapies in the same price category as you mentioned. I feel that some of these jargons are so overused in a way to get people to go out and buy or try things that necessarily are not their cup of tea. I mean what I consider a ' must have' is not the same as anyone else's ' must have' and the term 'must have' sort means to me, you cannot live without it 🤣. I am very passionate about perfumes and scents and smelling good and having my home smell lovely but is all such a personal choice. I have some friends who do not love perfumes or scents the way I do and I accept this and to say ' must have' almost means to me that someone is putting pressure on someone else to buy this item. I am now really narrowing down as to what I watch with perfumes, I feel comfortable with lovely people like you, who are genuine, passionate, honest and not someone whom for example perhaps says only positive things ab out EVERY perfume. I also am cautious now to when I see certain catch phrases being used. I also dislike videos where some people seem to be intent on putting other perfume channels down or saying that some of the terms that are used about Middle Eastern are incorrect. Usually people who do frown upon Middle Eastern scents. I feel we all like different things, I did not know much about M E perfumes until early last year and am so glad I found them as I love the perfumes I bought passionately. But basically I love perfumes so for me it is about what smells wonderful, and I am grateful that we can buy lovely perfumes without a huge price as niche perfumes prices have gone through the roof as well as some other perfume houses prices. Even some Middle Eastern perfumes are getting more and more expensive. You know, dear Adwoa, you were the first person, I ever heard, from the channels I watched, mention last year about the risk of buying too many perfumes, you talked about the danger of the addiction of the next perfume haul rush or so. I remember at the time I was so impressed how you said this and so it was easy for me to see when I got to the stage that I felt I needed to hit the breaks and buy less and ultimately go on a purchase break as I have no space left. I think your videos are informative, honest and also so helpful, thank you for all you do. From icy stormy Tasmania (6 degrees) where it is snowing right now, with love, Tia ❤🤍❤
