I just want to clarify that NOPE's release strategy is completely nuts. The movie hasn't opened in almost any big European market, with the movie only being released in mid to late August. It's insane trying to avoid spoilers and it doesn't make for a very flashy headline when the opening numbers are dissapointing when most people can't even see the movie until weeks from now.

I think that is a big part of it. Another element is it's one of the rare movies that got a lot of military families and baby boomers out to the theater. I went opening weekend and I was one of the youngest audience members there. There were many older veterans that filled up that theater. That's a demographic you don't normally get with other blockbusters. Many fathers and sons going together I noticed. That adds up!

I can't wait to watch Nope in my country, Let's not also forget that (for the box office discussion), Jordan Peele chooses amazing talent that is not worldwide famous/huge stars, like in that movie from Tarantino. He goes for original material, black actors (some new faces) who are extremely gifted and fights for talent in their movies. That decision may hurt him in box office results, but once you've made it and you write, direct and build a fan base and a budget that WELL, you betta do something good with it. I bet he has the most known and celebrated actors wanting to work with him (as leads) and he won't because he is on a mission. As a fan, all I care is the material, the result, but this choice in particular makes me love him even more. Like you said, he pulls ths iconic perfomances from their actors and THEY STILL CANNOT FIND more work. Proves his point even when is doing everything he can.

No wonder this video so late, Grace had to do a lot of creative writing to prop up Nope and Jordan Peele.

"Pretty much the only one helping black actors get big roles".... Wow so many questions.. . I guess Ryan Cooglar is making white Wakanda next. OH WAIT. Just goes to show what the narrative really is...

It was so good to see Micheal Wincott back on the big screen. He is such a wonderful and underused talent in Hollywood.

Saw Black Phone two weekends ago with some friends. . . excellent movie. We were busy last weekend but intend to hit Nope this weekend and will likely do it on IMAX given your suggestion.

You can get the hard copy of ZSJL for a long time now, I purchased it on digital as well, like you said it, to own it, already have my hard copy. Uncoupled sounds like a great show, after Stranger Things I need something new to watch lol

44M opening after tons of headlines predicting 50-56M and over that sounds like a disappointing turnout to me and it looks like the movie could be in danger of flopping so peele better hopes it plays out like OUATIH

I liked the concept of Nope, but the execution didn't work for me. The analogy being made moves to demystify the big reveals instead of going more towards Eldritch terror territory... which probably would've worked for me.

I loved Nope but I agree, it would've made for an amazing cosmic horror type story if they tweaked it a little.

Hell yeah a reality bending eldritch cosmic terror. That’s what he should’ve went for

DC SuperPets is Thursday, and early too, at 2PM...animation in theaters isnt really my thing, but I may get a kick out the animated versions of the DC villains 🙂.

The only reason I didn’t see this was because I honestly didn’t know what the movie was about. I’ll go see it this weekend tho
