I love seeing people experience Melodysheep's videos. They have become a staple in my life. Absolutely breathtaking and so profoundly moving. The first time I saw this one, which was my introduction to the channel - when the human eyes flash at the end, I legitimately burst into tears. I just thought how incredible that we exist, that people made the thing that I just watched, how the time we live in allows it to exist, that we even have the capacity to contemplate these questions. I recommend it's time lapse into the future video, and the Life Beyond series.

I always think about how many other times this "life" deal had to have happened before us, and the shapes it may have took. The amount of things that had to have came and went before we were even a concept is mind blowing to me, and that's the reason the mystery of the universe is my favorite one, because it might not ever be solved, and the speculations are interesting for the most part.

This'll be a long comment, but I have to share these thoughts somewhere and there's no better place than No Protocol's comment section hehe It's on the question of us humans being or not being the only fully self-aware intelligent species in the Universe. I've heard a lot of people say that with how unimaginably large the Universe is, there's absolutely no way similar conditions to Earth never formed elsewhere to start and maintain life. And I agree with that. But then I remember about time being a factor. That split second at the end of this video really says it all. In the scale of the Universe we are nothing but a millionth of a drop of water in an ocean. Our entire existence could be skipped if you blink. With that in mind, I keep thinking that in terms of space there have definitely been other species similar to us. In terms of time there's no chance we exist alongside one of those right now. And even if we do, our life span is so short and the distance between is is so massive we'll never meet other "humans". So maybe we aren't alone. However, with how dismal the chance is to contact anyone, we might as well be 😄

In Ancient Greece, Anaximander suggested “apeiron”, referring to how big the universe must be. The Greek word “apeiron” means without limit in time and space, suggesting the universe is boundless. In other words, infinite. This makes perfect sense to me. Since things exist, there must be no limit to existence and existence must be limitless. Rendering the idea of a “creator” utterly redundant and search for it futile.

The sheer number of worlds in our universe is beyond comprehension, and the probability of life is 100% in my book. One thought i had while watching this is the relative time effect when approaching a black hole and it made me wonder if it takes longer for species to evolve closer to our galactic core than it does for those of us on the outer rim because of this effect. To the species closer to the galactic core looking out to the outer rim might see our species emerge and reach our technological era way the way we would watch a film on 10x speed due to their proximity to the supermassive blackhole. And vice versa, we would see them as if in slow motion due to this gravitational temporal effect.

I'm not a physicist, but I still have some baseless conjecture about the "big bang". I just wanted to throw that disclaimer up first so no one assumes I think I know what I'm talking about. That said if you're still interested, read on. As I understand it the universe, causality, time, the existence of matter, and maybe even light, exist due to the relationship and interactions between various fields. We try to measure such relationships experimentally. I'm not sure what to call these fundamental relationships but when expressed mathematically in formula some of the constant coefficients that fall out might be considered as measures of the universe, in a way. For the "big bang" I like to presuppose that these constant, and the underlying relationship between the forces they describe, changed. That some specific relationship between the forces that make up our reality was required for them to exist; and, that once it existed enough fundamental interactions became possible, for causality to be born. I also like to imagine the big bang like someone dropping a stone into a very crazy soup of potential interactions. The waves rippling outward triggering localized phenomenons to condense into stable interactions like matter. It's entirely conjecture, but maybe the notion could fit quantum stuff too. I guess that I'm proposing that some interactions between fields might require a discrete threshold of energy in order to maintain stability. Otherwise the interactions never make it past "virtual particles" and become a part of the noisy foam of field interactions that make up a vacuum.
