Noram GE Clutch - Disassembly & Changing Springs

I needed to change the RPM springs because the minibike would try to walk away at idle. The black springs are rated at 2000 RPM engagement and the green springs are 3000 RPM.

DeanMercii | Dean Jr | graphicfoxx.ai It's a stock motor and I just wanted to see if the walbro would bolt to the tillotson intake and if I could easily hook up a throttle cable. It would be dangerous to run that engine with that carburetor.

Have you had any issues with chattering at initial engagement? I just put on of these on my mini bike. If I take off hard, it chatters really bad. Once im going its fine.

You might need to clean the clutch or replace a part. You should definitely take it apart and inspect it. Post a video if you want me to look at it. My clutch doesn't chatter, but if it is setup for light engagement it might chatter.

@@dc5000123 thanks for your reply. After I sent that I actually got in contact with a noram distributor who helped me out. Turns out it was shipped setup for outboard rotation and I was running it inboard. I flipped the shoes and its perfect now. Super impressed with it for the price.

You probably have the hub pushing the shoes rather than pulling the shoes. Look closely at the way the center hub is positioned in the shoes. On the video ,,, his hub is pulling as it should be for smooth engagement..

Quick question, on the springs if you add higher rpm springs is it quicker launch as like higher torque? Or lower rpm higher torque?

Quick launches are based on clutch shoe orientation as scene on the paper at 3:49 , settings #1 and #2 are probably best for that. High rpm springs means the shoes won't grab the clutch hub until higher RPMs are reached.

dc5000123 ahh ok got the shoe part..so if i wanted a quicker launch more torque etc..lower rpm springs would be better to grab clutch hub quicker and make a more quick take off?

@@abbyga26 Well, Technically you want the clutch to engage at the RPM your engine makes a certain amount of torque and horsepower which is specific to your engine and performance parts.

Hey I have a question that I cannot get an answer to.... Ok...here it goes... I bought a noram clutch on ebay like the one in this video but after greasing and installing them on my engine, it would not engage....it only revved up and stayed in the same exact spot...the question is ...can I make this clutch usable or did I get an $80 paper weight? Any info would be incredibly helpful...thankyou

Depending on how high your RPM redline is, you might just need lower RPM springs. Some clutches won't engage until 7000+ RPMs

Do not grease or oil the shoes or drum only a drop of oil on the bushing
