Families not getting together in the US is a modern thing. 70's 80's and 90's family and friends came together to play cards, dominoes, board games, cook outs....man i miss those days

We have come to a sad point in the United States the we don't work to live, we live to work

From a person who just started traveling to the DR a few years ago, I agree. The energy is different, the people are more friendlier. In the states, nobody have time for family anymore. Our lives revolve around work.

Same here in germany. Life for work, the french people say : they work for life not life for work - thats the reason why the nights in paris becomes to day

The biggest difference between the Dominican Republic and the United States is that at least 8 out of 10 people here in the Dominican Republic well speak to you and be friendly with you … America is no longer a social country. Everybody is afraid of each other. The Dominican Republic turns in to a family reunion as soon as the sun goes down…and in America, people are afraid to get to know each other, unfortunately

I just had this convo with my children to level set their minds before we get to DR... That the power goes off.. so if it's hot.. you'll go outside and have Real Live Interactions with PEOPLE... no tablets and phones via the internet interactions.. You are forced to put that stuff down if the power is off for 2-4 hours and go talk and deal with people in Real Life.... So my conculsion is that it's more Real Life being Lived in the DR. Love you guys to gether on the channel.. ~peace

James y Norberis you guys are so correct, right on point. That’s why I keep asking why some people ( expats) are so tormented when they are there. All the things you guys mention is definitely relatable. The thing I really enjoy the most is family gatherings. My Spanish is not there yet; but I can feel the acceptance, I am apart of them. I really enjoy though going to the malecon in Puerto Plata in the evening when I am there. I sit by one of the bars for a couple hours, drink a few beers and just watching people jogging, walking, having conversation, cars and motorcycles going by, the view from the Atlantic and that nice wind blowing on your skin. Life happening and you’re apart of it. Your right Norberis. The DR is just different. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

The feeling is just different. You're right it's always family gatherings. When I'm home with my family. Me and my can be sitting in the marcocina drinking a little bit listening to music and before you know it. It's a little party. Even when we get together to ride horses. It's always like 15 to 25 of us together. Some in cars and the others on horses. You should try the beach in the morning around 8,9 or 10. The water is calmer and you can see so many fish swimming.

I must agree that the people are much friendlier and families socialized together more. It doesn’t have to be a special occasion, they enjoy being with family and friends. I know every place have their share of problems but I think DR is safer than the US. They have security everywhere, banks, grocery stores, shopping malls, service stations ( and they are full service too) on the streets and etc. They don’t have guns drawn everywhere but their presence is noticeable, it looks as if the people have respect for them, don’t know if it’s bc the lifestyle is different and a lil laidback. Been there 3or4 times and have gone to different areas/places and I must say that I felt safe and can’t forget about the food 😂😂😂 it’s great!!!

Hey guys, trust all is well! Yes lots of truths to your conversation. I was just in the DR last week visiting friends and meeting new folks that have relocated to the Santo Domingo area. A few have bern there for 15 years, so they would tend to agree with you. For me, I'm retired so i have the opportunity to visit many different countries. But, I must admit that one of favorites will always be the DR. I love the beach (Boca Chica) with their fried fish dinners. I also enjoy taking the local transportation to get out there from Santo Domingo. The people on the bus, speaking Spanish to me, me speaking " Spanglish" to them lol! But hey I give it my best and it works fine! One thing though...its hot as hell there, lawd! But, i do enjoy the country with its excellent food and people ( Colon Parke') is an excellent place for different food options. Also, the weather in America depending on your region is very different too which sometimes makes it more difficult to move around. But hey its all good, I love the time i spend in the DR which for me is just about right! It's still always good to come back home...to the the good ol USA!😎

I agree with the points made in this video. Dominicans can be more familial and social whether it be playing dominos or sitting around with a Presidente. It's not that we don't do those things in the U.S. "es que La Republica Dominicana es mas tranquilo...jajajaa." Another analogy is the D.R. and the U.S. are like two beautiful women every man has his preference. Sometimes women have characteristics that cannot be defined it's the same with the difference between the D.R. and the U.S. there is just a difference that cannot be defined but you know it and you feel it...tu sabes...jajaja.

Ok. I have to agree. I use to sell ice cream and I have to admit that most of the time they were birthday ice cream until the weekend where I could welcome couples l. Therefore, socialisation is dead in here. My folks that are working in restauration know that, at least in the DR you can do some things before the weekend. As I usually say, in Santo Domingo you get enough for your money. Eastern Parkway in New York is nice...

The good old USA is the place where one makes a lot money and dreams come true. After that, one wishes to relax and enjoy life differently. The Dominican Republic gives you that chance. It seems to me that the DR gets better and better as time goes by. It becomes less corrupt, safer, more advance in every aspect, and extremely friendly in comparison to the USA and Europe.

I went to Rio Fula and they also kill and cook the chicken right there. They have a pen full of live chickens and asked me which one I wanted to eat? 😳 I don’t want to give a chicken its death sentence! It’s like none of the chickens wanted to give you the eye contact, so you would pick them😂
