Great review. It’s probably the only review which I listened to the playing in it’s entirety! Great feel!

Great review ! And great playing. How does the the feel compare to the Nord Grand ? Your review of the NG helped encourage me to buy one and I love playing it. It’s sublime. My only complaint is that you can’t layer pianos like you can on the 5.

The grand nord touch comes from the kawai action so is obviously much better

Quite a fine keyboard and demo!!!! I have a kawai mp7se and it def gets the job done. The problem most of us keyboard players have is when your in a church worship setting, you can’t trust the sound guy to get the right sound out because they think they need to turn it down on slow songs they don’t realize these keyboards have their own touch response. The price range of the nord is out of range. One thing i believe we all struggle with. I like higher end boards because then no matter what the sound guy does we can force it out

I truly hope that Nord is going to release the updated version to the Piano 5 in 2024. Looking forward to picking one up.

Nice review, thanks for that. However I would have liked also a "cons" comment... I'm sure there must be something in the instrument that would at least need a trade off on a characteristic.

For piano...I guess that Nord 5 is an answer as we have 2 piano engines that open great possibilities in combining acoustic pianos , grands with uprights , etc , so regarding the piano sound in itself it's the most interesting, from my point of view. Also ( important ) as mobility and transportation ( especially the 73 keys version) it is perfect. Anyway , if we get to the point where REALLLLLLY a concert piano action is required , us the players being so perfect that we can't settle for less than perfection regarding the key actions ...than I would say that probably there will be a real concert ground broutht for us. Untill that point....Nor piano 5 is a dream machine for any pianist that wants to play not comment on You Tube about ''crappy Nord keybeds and etc''. Plenty from that tribe around.On posts regarding Nord. Which , i bet , bever saw an audience of several hundreds or thousand ( or any audience for that matter)and never understood the problems to perfectly amplify an acoustic piano in certain stage and bands combinations. Etc. As a conclusion I would see Nord 5 as a tool to explore even for real , serious, etc classical pianists.

I have a nord piano 5. And I would like to record my playing. But I have no idea on how to go about this. The piano came with just a usb cable and I also have a jack I used to connect it to my external speaker. Must I get an audio interface? What else do I need to get. Thank you in advance.
@BrandonJGuitarist0019 ай бұрын
You need an interface. The keyboard does not have one built in

Well done! - But where is the demonstration of a long, uninterrupted sustain of a single chord, with it’s full resonance over its full length? Everybody seems to just hammer away on the acoustic emulations, whereas the true quality of these ac.emulations is in the long sustained and resonating sound…
@cooltrades74693 жыл бұрын
Oh, Mr ''something's not right''. If you could not hear the quality of the piano sound related to the hand dynamic....you have another problem.Hearing. I heard that they make pretty cool hearing aids these days. Almost invisible.Maybe you should test several:)))))?

You might want to listen the D ......etc(which is actually a ?) at 1:50:).

@@cooltrades7469 Your 1st answer: Nonsense. 2nd answer: somewhat useful. A chord struck on a good dig. piano like the Nord lasts, develops and resonates for about 20 seconds (on a real grand somewhat longer). This is just one method of exploring the quality of a grand piano sample

What speakers do Nord musicians use for home studio
@theclaverman2 жыл бұрын
I use the Neumann KH310 studiomonitors along with Auratones in the studio.(I don’t know if that was what you ment?)When practicing on my Nord Stage I actually like using headset. I use both Beyerdynamic DT1990 and DT770(which is also great).

No question Nord has the best samples. Unfortunately, the Fatar keybed is prone to breakdowns. My new Piano 5 (same keybed as Nord P6) has been in repair for two months. At least 3 keys (some of the more frequently played above middle C) have lost their ability to accurately recognize a variety of velocity levels, defaulting to the loudest sample with only medium pressure. This makes it unplayable in performance or recording. Most disappointing.

Despite all the new layering possibilities the strings and choir sounds are still synthetic/unusable imo. Pianos and ambient stuff great though.

“A stunning, premium action.” Um…. its a cheap fatar action. A $699 Kawai ES110 or Roland FP30 both have a superior action to this $3500 instrument, and that’s just insane no matter how you look at it.
@luciano.armani2 жыл бұрын
thats funny considering i was looking to get a nord from my fp30... are you telling me its gonna be worse? how about the nord grand?
@brianbernstein38262 жыл бұрын
@@luciano.armani the feel of the keys would be worse on most Nord keyboards, yes. Pretty much anything except the Nord Grand, would be worse than the Roland FP30. Their weighted hammer action found on Piano 5, 4, Stage 2 and Stage 3, MAY be tied with it. Maybe. The features and sound quality will blow the Roland out of the water, but unless you're playing live constantly, save the money and just buy software/plugins, honestly.
@brianbernstein38262 жыл бұрын
the Nord Grand costs $3500 and has identical action to Kawai's ES8, a keyboard which cost $1700 when it came out a decade ago. Great action, I'd say it's the best action one could get for $2000 or less... 10 years ago. the Grand costs $2,000 more, and for that you get access to Nord's sample library and... ? Maybe a few other things but not much honestly. Again... getting software would costs you a few hundred bucks tops. You'd have more sounds, and they'd be higher quality. And WAY more versatility/functionality. Also, I hear the Nord Grand has ridiculously loud keys, and that there isn't even a record function to quickly play back something you just played. Your average $500 Digital piano has that feature... seriously.
@luciano.armani2 жыл бұрын
@@brianbernstein3826 I’ve been trying a few vst libraries but nothing sounds like a nord so far (even Keyscape or the best native instruments stuff). Anything you would recommend?
@brianbernstein38262 жыл бұрын
@@luciano.armani The software does have a learning curve. Because of the immense options, it will take time to develop the sound you want. But I maintain that it has far more flexibility, options, etc, than a Nord. However, if Nord sounds far better to your ears (you are not alone) then I would say this: Usually, if you love the sound of a keyboard but the action is subpar, getting a rack/module is the best option. That way, you get all the sounds and quality, but it's your choice as to which keyboard you use as a controller. I just looked online to see what options Nord provides in this respect, and it looks like their rack/modules are quite dated compared to their new keyboards... they may have done this intentionally to stop people from doing what I'm suggesting, forcing them to buy a ridiculously expensive keyboard in order to get their sound quality. But I could be wrong. Find a B&H or Guitar Center that carries a Grand, try and go on a Sunday or something when there aren't many people in the store banging on instruments. Say you're interested in buying but want to test it first, so they'll take your experience more seriously... they may give you better headphones than usual, or set up some monitors. Spend an hour or two playing it, and if possible, AB test against your next best choice. That's the best advice I can give. The Grand DOES have Kawai ES8's action which is very nice. The sound quality is phenomenal. But for $3,500 I maintain that I feel it's a complete rip off, especially with loud noisy keys and the ridiculous inability to record/playback.
