The Nord Stage 3 is Nord's flagship keyboard, combining piano, organ, and synthesizer technologies in an instrument with a user-friendly, performance-oriented interface. All three sound generating sections can be used simultaneously, with three slots per section for sonic flexibility. The Stage 3's Piano section provides 2 GB of memory for the Nord Piano Library's grand, upright, and electro-mechanical piano samples, while the Synthesizer section features the Lead A1 synth engine with support for the Nord Sample Library. What a great instrument! Hey Nord, you need to extend the frequency range on the Mid Band of your Equalizer to notch out well below 200Hz for 'problem' rooms where certain fundamentals of a patch can boom in volume. It's nice to be able to shape your sound but if the EQ could serve double duty to fix a less than ideal acoustical environment in a pinch, it becomes a true working musician's tool.

Thanks for the video! Some corrections though: 1.) Analog mode for delay is nothing new, NS2 had it (hidden in the menu) 2.) Detuning pianos did also exist in NS2. 3.) Copying / pasteing panels/slots could also be done on NS2.

What does Nord mean by pipe organ model? Two different physical organs that have been sampled? Or just two voices/patches?

Maybe a noob question, but haven't found an answer anywhere: understand the stage 3 has 2 organ engines, so combined with the split point capability, should be able to set up like a double manual (B3), correct? I have a Nord CD1 clonewheel but might retire it if I can get something akin to a double-manual using a single 88.

So I've done my homework and have come to the understanding that if you want a mod wheel, pitch bend and the affordability of the Electro 5 I will have to find twice the amount of cash. Albeit, the Stage 3 is an amazing instrument for live and studio. Just so expensive, hope Nord bridge the gap for us mortals one day. Suppose I can always wait for 5 years and have browse on EBay.

i went to a Piano store yesterday... im surprised, i played a Baldwin Grand piano. And i feel like i dont want togo home anymore. it sounds real very real. And when i got home i played my nord stage and my kronos, i feel like im playing a toy. 😢 now im thinking of getting a grand piano or even a good Upright. 🎶🎹

Yeah that's the only reason I didn't get myself a Nord, but instead I got myself a MP11SE. Love the key action for the size of the piano. I wanted to get an upright piano, but sadly I have very little space to work with. Hopefully you enjoy whichever piano you get

Good video Chris but you gotta admit that "pipe organ" is a disaster. My old Kurz PC3X from 11 years ago was easily blowing these pipe organs out of the water - hard to understand how Nord has had such a hard time keeping up when they have the Piano down so well.

Great demo, Chris. I'm trying to decide between this and the Yamaha Montage. How many synth presets does this come with? Nord's own website seems to have only a very limited library of add ons. Perhaps there's another community making these I haven't found yet...

They`re both beasts in their own respect. Depends on what you want and what you`re doing. The nord doesn`t come with a lot of presets compared to montage, but that doesn`t mean NS3 sound worse. I´ve just recently sold my yamaha motif XS and ordered a NS3 88keys (wich I´ll probably rescieve next week). As I´m an professional gigging musisician, I needed a piano which met the following criteria : 1. Has premium sound quality. 2. Is lightweight (the Motif was over 35kg incl. flight case) 3. Is very fast and easy to tweak at the session/gig. The Nord met all of these criteria’s. Many people complain about the Nord being overpriced. The solution: buy a cheaper keyboard. Yamaha has a very different keybed compared to the Nord and I really like the keybed of Yamaha more (especially for piano as I´m a pianist), but that said.. the Nord keybed is not bad at all (don`t listen to everything people writes on Internet forums). Yamaha Montage is more a jack of all trades and can make what ever sound and effect your heart desires. It comes with a LOT more sounds, presets, effects. So my advice: If you`re a gigging musician: Buy the Nord any day in the week(the Nord is all about live-playing) If you`re not going to carry the keyboard around a whole lot: Buy the montage. Or... buy both. And my best advice: Go to the local music store and actually play these fabulous instruments for your self, because KZbin video compression is not doing this keyboard any justice at all when it comes to the sound quality. The piano sound for instance in the Nord , and especially the upright piano sound is really something special. Very authentic, rich sound. Happy playing☺️

the synth is the big weakness on this board for the simple reason it only has one full oscillator and one lfo, you really need a proper synth as well as a second board for live use.. if it had one extra oscillator it would be the best stage keyboard out there, still I love it for the quick immediate access to all the available parameters..

I work as a clinician for hire. I comply with the requests of the manufacturer. I own tons of personal gear and worked with Bob Moog at Kurzweil for years! I still have my original Minimoog Ser.# 1492. Perhaps you didn't consider the parameters that go with the job. Hope you get to try a Stage 3 out. It is a great instrument!
