Nord Stage 4 - Do you NEED the Triple Pedal 2?

What does the Nord Triple Pedal 2 give you that you can't accomplish with other cheaper pedals? In this video I break down my thoughts on the Nord Triple Pedal 2, different ways you can get similar functionality, and my opinion on whether I think it's worth it. Spoiler alert...I think it's worth it. Kawai GFP-3 is the exact same pedal as the Nord Triple Pedal 2. It cost approx 55%.

Yes. I have the NS4 88 and the GFP-3 pedal. It works. You get all of the functionality of the NTP 2 for almost half the price.

Is the triple pedal that came with the Nord Piano 5 the 2nd or 1st triple pedal? I have one but i traded my Piano 5 in for a Stage 4 today. The retailer told me to keep the triple pedal cus it won't change the trade-in price. How can I tell if my triple pedal is 1 or 2? Thanks

An interesting fact is that the Yamaha FC3a (not 4a), gives the same response as the Nord SP-2. I've tried this (as I've just got a Nord Stage 4), and kept a FC3a pedal from a previous Yamaha keyboard. Tried when I got the Stage 4 just to see if it worked well, and it worked perfectly with the latest Nord firmware, and selecting Nord SP-2.

No it does not. Having the FC3A depressed you can see in the pedal menu that the board still thinks it is slightly pressed. Also the dynamic range is available when the pedal is almost completely pressed.

I have 2 Yamaha FC-4A (3 of them) and it won't work with my NP5! ugh

Have you tried messing around with the settings in the Pedal Menu? I think the sustain type settings are on page 1 of that menu.

Cash grab by Nord, not giving access to the piano sustain samples (hiss and clunk) unless you buy the really expensive pedal. All the piano samples I own that have that feature can be easily triggered by a regular sustain pedal.
