It came with a massive price tag attached! For the same money ( barriers are not much of a deterrent) proper gates made of steel would have been just as effective, all the more when you consider how few days each year this level crossing is going to be used. Is a mainline connection really so important? Only the future will decide.Alistair

Swanage Railway made the decision to connect with main line supported by other organisations. Trial service to Wareham of 50 days starts in June I believe,

0:05 what type of alarm is that? doesn't sound like an E2S for this new crossing! were these barriers and equipment from another crossing that was eliminated? If so, where?

Barriers, Booms and control equipment manufactured by Schweizer Electronic of Switzerland and interlinked with Swanage Railway signalling system. The alarm is the same as conventional UK yodalarm. There is other background noise.
