Jenni would you ever consider doing a video styling someone with the opposite body type as yourself? How much Scandi-cool can a curvy girl have??
@nastinka7782 жыл бұрын
that’s not her job, she just explained based on her own experience - her own body, learn from her and apply it to yourself according to your own needs/preferences (you know yourself better than anybody).
@kls661211 ай бұрын
She styles herself, like we should. She just gives ideas. It has nothing to do with curves or not. I probably out weigh her by 30 lbs. I may take some tips but this has nothing to do with being curvey.

I sort of adapted the scandi look a few years ago when i started my minimalism journey and i have been happy with my wardrobe ever since. I used to get really anxious about choosing an outfit because everybody around me was so stylish. With my curated wardrobe i always have something nice and simple to wear

This style is perfect for me living in a cool climate so layers are great. Having MS, I need comfort and things that are easy to get on and off. I can be comfortable and look stylish too. Palazzo pants with a cool design, embroidery, or details work great. I just go up a size for a flowy look head to toe!I like to pick up quality items at tag sales, thrift stores and ebay. I look for vintage clothes.

I like many of the edgy looks in scandi style. But personally I can't do most of them without a serious rework. As an hourglass or a kibbe theatrical romantic I tend to look like a lumpy potato if I do too much that is oversized. For instance I love wide flowing pants, but if I tried to pair that with a very baggy/oversized top it won't work unless I add waist emphasis. So I am personally curious..... how does the scandi look work for all the different kibbe body types? I imagine it would look very different on each one.
@verapopovic37572 жыл бұрын
For me it doesn't unfortunately :( I have a curvy pettite frame and with oversized everything I look as was robbed and had to wear my husbands everything. :D I tend just to go with oversized bottoms - flared trousers etc. with accentuated waist. Everything else is just laughable on me
@le90642 жыл бұрын
I agree with Jenny on most points except this one, oversize all over. Sure, for the scandis that do have a body type where those types of outfits are more flattering, like Jenny, it's common to see shirts and trousers styled that way. But I think the more softer/romantic Kibbe types lean into what Jenny mentions as "making cute/feminine cool" or "anti-cute". I could neverrrr pull off the oversized looks. So as for myself, being a soft dramatic, I typically need garments to look more structured and/or cinched in the waist to feel my best. Often times the garments I have, without styling, come off as pretty feminine and tailored. Not as laid back as you need it to be to have that scandi feel. So I offset, say, a feminine linen dress with something like birkens and chunky silver jewelry, keeping make-up and hair looking low-key. Making the look laid back - cool - without it becoming casual. /Stockholmer

Also an hourglass, and kind of short. I would love to pull off those looks but it’s impossible. Even the American versions of oversized fail consistently on me. Best I can do is a loose jean jacket, and even then, it better be cropped 😅 I appreciate the cool & more androgynous spirit of dressing there, and the idea of little pressure to appear a certain ‘feminine’ way. I gravitate toward structure and form fitting because it just works for me. Appearing ‘cute’ is a bit cringe to me, though.

I'm a Swede and feel like it depends on the season for me. During wintertime when I need to wear warmer, bigger clothes I prefer to work with a balanced silhouette. But for the oversized look, I think it is more about how we feel in them like she explained; cool, edgy - and in the summertime it makes me feel a bit more "flowy" and free instead of wearing tight fitted clothes :) I think it really depends on how you feel in the clothes more than anything :)

I think you have done a great job at pin-pointing the decades long scandi style! I sort of feel like a light went on in my mind when you talked about the shapes (big plus big). It seems like the 2000's were an exception to the rule (with very tight fitting trends), as the big shapes are what keeps showing up in every family photo album I look at.

I as a half scandi of sorts LOVE the scan style as a baseline for my style (esp. the androgynous and more freedom), but I do throw in more fitted pieces for balance and I can't go without some cool pops of bright colour, like seriously red handbag and nails, just as a still clean juxtaposition to the neutral base

Love the scandì style, although I need to adapt it to my petite figure (so maybe the all over oversized doesn’t work with my 5.3 feet 😬, looks like I fell into my father’s clothes). Apart from that, I absolutely love the aesthetics and the coolness of it!!
@lindagarrido43532 жыл бұрын
I love everything androgynous and oversized so am naturally inclined to the Scandi look. Unfortunately, my short, curvy Cuban body doesn't look as good in it as I would like, but I do it anyway because I hate frill, tight and florals.

I grew up in UK and prefer patterns, florals and abstracts more than plain coloured clothes. I just think they are brighter and make me happier wearing more colourful clothes too, although it does take a bit more thought when putting an outfit together so it looks stylish and also to avoid too many clashing colours or patterns. I just think its a bit more individualistic too and I enjoy buying from vintage shops too so no has the same outfit as me. It was interesting to see u vid on all the different styles though. 👏

Assuming you are not scandi? There isn't really a big difference between office and casual dress codes here. The "dress up for work" thing is not the same all places in the world. In my opinion all the examples shown in this video look less casual and more dressed up.

I'm curious if the popular neutrals ease into a little more colour in summer. Watching a Swedish TV series filmed in summer, it seemed to me that the women and also men were wearing a bit of colour, especially the greens and blues that reflected the nearby ocean culture (more colour on men than I normally see here in my home of Canada). Maybe it was just TV and no reflection on real life!
