nRF Connect SDK is Nordic's software development kit for developing both short-range wireless and cellular IoT applications. nRF52 Series SoCs are now supported for development, in addition to the nRF5340 SoC and the nRF9160 SiP.

More than one year later, the nRF Connect SDK's Windows GUI still has only the BlueTooth stuff, but no Thread or Zigbee or generic 802.15.4 to speed up the learning curve. At least I would have hoped for the thread-sniffer (or 802.15.4-sniffer) to be added to the windows gui of the nrf connect sdk... but I guess Nordic does not really care.

We're adding more and more Zigbee and Thread eksamples into our nRF Connect SDK. The nRF Sniffer is not a part of any SDK, please check out nRF Sniffer for 802.15.4 infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fug_sniffer_802154%2FUG%2Fsniffer_802154%2Fintro_802154.html It works for sniffing nRF Connect SDK and nRF5 SDK projects as well.

Is this the future for nrf5? Or will there still be future releases of nrf5 sdk and would still the preferred sdk for nrf5 products?

Hi Miguel. Yes, nRF Connect SDK is the future for development with any nRF52, nRF53, or nRF91 Series devices. There will be no future release of the nRF5 SDK.
