The destructed jeans you are showing fit really well, but there's way too much "destruction" for me to wear (I'm in my late 60s, so there's that). That being said, I picked up a pair of Time & Tru bermuda shorts off the WalMart clearance rack in August, despite a couple "destructed" spots. They fit me beautifully, they're super comfortable, and I bought them for gardening/yard work, not a trip to the mall. However, I've tried to zip into the grocery, at the end a hot, grubby day of yard work, and had people me ask me where I got the cute shorts...I keep an open mind on style, due to this. Thanks for doing the hard work of researching, trying on, and evaluating so many items for us! You two are a blessing!

I often hear you and others recommend sizing up or down. How does that impact the fit in other areas? I’m thinking specifically of jeans or trousers. You need a proper fit in the waist and hips. If you size up (suggested for white denim, for example) how can the fit be correct in all areas? I’m a bit confused by this. You suggested sizing up in the black shift dress to get a bit more length, but wouldn’t that mean that the shoulders are too broad? If there isn’t much difference between sizes (so that my concern is negligible) how does it benefit?

It’s usual just specific to the brand & that particular item. Some brands run big & some small so sizes can be off.
