This is a brilliant series. We don't need a 100 hp "adventure" bike. You need a desire to explore the roads less traveled.

Here is an easy way to get the tire off, seems too simple. I had to put back my road tires as I couldn't get the nubby tires off by myself. Came across a Yoututbe video showing how easy it could be. Unfortunate I didn't bookmark it, and now I can't find it again, but here goes. Use one tire leaver to get the tire off as normal, than use a second leaver UNDER the rim, between the spokes, and use the leaver to move the other leaver, and it will lift the tire off without much effort. Hope it's easy to understand. It worked for me (74), I can now put the nubby tires back on when needed. Another great video.

Hey Sterling, ive followed you since your trip to Baja years ago. You've been an inspiration and you've fueled a lot of my own motorbike adventures on my little 250, including riding it all over the 11 western states, British Columbia and Baja California, all originating from the south sound area. Dont deapair though. Flats are where it at and learn to love sand. Those are my two favorite small bike sayings! In the end, theres so much joy and reward in small bike touring!

All the patches on that tube made me laugh. Don’t worry about it. Ending up in that situation is just bad luck, and not having enough experience with tires & tubes. I was a life long bicycle racer and ultramarathon bicyclist. I now ride motorcycles because of congestive heart failure. I remember a few times when things got out of control and I had tubes with multiple patches 🤣. Once you have more than one patch on a tube, you’ll have a patch for failure. Just the mathematical odds :)

@@SterlingNoren last month I bought the gps Kevin SD card and rode half of the Mid Atlantic BDR and the gps worked awesome, I’m planning on doing the other half soon. I am wondering how you know if you are on the trail of the paper map because it’s pretty easy to get lost out there without a good gps. I see you are using a gps and the butler map and was wondering how you are using both. I’ve been on motos my whole life but this year I bought the Honda crf 300 rally and I’m planning on throwing it in the back of my sprinter van and exploring the southwest this winter when the snow starts flying in Pennsylvania,,,, your videos are the best, they inspired me to get out there.

@@neilmekolichick6582 I like to use the GPS to follow a track, like a BDR, and know my exact position in relation to the track. I like a paper map to give me a good big-picture overview that can't be seen on the GPS. Each has its own merits. Together they work great.

I know you need content with DRAMA BUT FTLOFnG I think a 300+ ish bike might be a better choice considering the weight you are carrying and to "SAFELY" ride on paved roads without being a NUISANCE or a Danger.
