This is was a sad day on Dec 3 1994 to see norfolk and western 611 on its last trip pulling passengers before she came back to the rails in 2015 god bless the people who rebuild her

Indeed. I imagine that the railfan community as a whole was in despair as the 611 returned to Roanoke for (what seemed to be) the last time a few days later. Thankfully, she returned a little over 20 years later in May of 2015. Not sure what the next five years holds for her until she has to go down for another overhaul, but I'm quietly confident that she may steam again next year somewhere that ISN'T Strasburg or the Buckingham Branch.

@maxm2317 so true she needs to run a good place to run free and not this short trips there fine but she needs to run like she used to like in the old steam program I sure miss her 1990s whistle the one she carry from 2015 till last year didn't give her justice the whistle from the 1990s was her whistle not the whistle she has now

I would be remiss not to mention Pete R and Paul D who were along for the ride with me in the $200 Blue Ford Thunderbird (you can see it briefly in the background as Jensen removes the 2nd Flag from 611) with me that weekend. Pete was shooting the video on the pacing, the part where i go up in the cab and a few other random times. Paul helped with navigating and was an important 3rd person to have for the all night drives down and back. Also, for poor college students (or in my case college dropout) being able to split costs 3 ways instead of 2 made all the difference in the world.

Yeah, the entire pace line North between Atalla and Fort Payne. Alabama State Trooper pulled ahead, popped a 3 point and parked facing traffic. We just happened to be the first ones in line.
