Over the weekend of June 4th and 5th, Norfolk & Western 611 (in conjunction with the Virginia Museum of Transportation and Norfolk Southern) operated three round trip excursions between the cities of Manassas, Virginia and Front Royal, Virginia over Norfolk Southern's "B" Line. In this video, we'll see N&W 611 charge out of the busy cities of Manassas, Wellington, an Gainesville,, and pass through Thoroughfare Gap as it makes its way into the Northern Virginia countryside. The train will then pass through several small towns, including The Plains, Marshall, Rectortown, and Delaplane. At Linden, the train will begin its climb up through Manassas Gap, where 611 has to work hard to keep the train moving up the steep mountain grade. After cresting Linden grade, 611 and her train pull into the scenic town of Front Royal, where the train is turned on the wye at Riverton Junction and begins its journey back. We were lucky enough to catch these final runs of the N&W 611 for 2016, so we hope you enjoy our video of the event!
