Regardless of what Wikipedia might say, for me, the tense for Norm will never change from 'is' to 'was'. He IS the best comedian ever and IS a wonderful person and his influence helps me on a daily basis and will always continue to do so. His intelligence, warmth, mischievous smile and rarified heights of comedy, siumltaneously scratch an itch and sooth the soul so completely that there's no going back to a life without his impact. There are comedians who are highly intelligent, but depraved of any moral compass. There are comedians who have standards of right and wrong, but are not funny. There are comedians who are both intelligent and upright, but have blunt personalities and are devoid of kindness. I've never witnessed any other human, comedian or not, that "hits on all cylinders" the way Norm does. To give him up would be like giving up water or breathing. There are precious few people in this world that make others to be better humans for the example they set. Norm is and will always be one of those whose lives touch others in such a positive way, for anyone that ever gives him a fair shake at touching their lives as well.

I want to read more Norm's books goddamnit. To be honest not even that, I wanna listen to Norm reading his books. I'm still listening to his audiobook when falling asleep to this day.

Fascinating that I'm a huge fan of both men, listening to Lopate daily, often "live" on the radio, and grabbing every bit of Norm that's on KZbin, and yet I'm hearing about this encounter for the very first time. Further proof that Big Data's algorithms have nothing to do with a person's preferences.

He never talked about criminal activity but he's hinted at as teen travelling across Canada and not really living anywhere, so if that's true it wouldn't surprise me he engaged in some criminal activity around that time.
