The is perhaps the most philosophically interesting movie ever made. Why? Because it is Hollywood par excellence. First there is the fact of the entire movie being a tale told by a dead man (and we all know "dead men tell no tales"). Then, there is the complete fusion of fiction and reality, not only in the mind of Norma Desmond herself, but even of the audience. Do you *really* think Cecil B DeMille would show up with camera's a murder scene? In what sort of a fantasy world? Only this one.
@myrcaldo59376 жыл бұрын
The all-bald man in the end is not DeMille, even in the film's reality. They look like similar to one another though. He is her butler who staged the arrest to look like a shooting so that she is not disturbed (if she could be more disturbed than she already was). She referred to DeMille because he had directed her in the past and he even appears as himself earlier in the film.
@RaineStudio2 жыл бұрын
@@myrcaldo5937 In fact, it is Erich von Stroheim who _was_ a silent picture director and who actually directed Swanson. And in the scene where Norma is watching one of her old pictures, it is Swanson as directed by von Stroheim. Wrap your head around that.

So lately there's been this wrestler named Toni Storm that has been playing this gimmick of a once bright shining star beloved many (she actually was for awhile) she even became the AEW Women's World Champion. But once she reached the top her act started to fizzle out. Other stars both men and women were outshining her until eventually she lost the belt. That sent her off the deep end. Now she desperately clings on to the idea that the fans love her and that her friends don't actually hate her. That common people wouldn't understand the price she pays for fame and glory. Meanwhile she keeps losing and can barely do anything interview without literally throwing a shoe at someone lol Lots of people draw comparisons to Marilyn Monroe since she's the near spitting image of her but those who are movie savvy have pointed out she's basically the Norma Desmond of the wrestling universe. I came here to see for myself and it is spot on! Gloria did the role first but Toni is doing Gloria (and Norma) proud by portraying the character. Nobody leaves a star ⭐
