There is something that creates the rules of how everything works; there has to be a creator, something cannot come out of nothing. 0 + 0 does not equal 1. I don't understand why on every atheistic song the top comment is always someone telling everyone to shut up about religion and listen to the music. First of all all the people saying that are making far more noise than the people they're complaining about, and second of all, why are we treating the music as though the message isn't important? Obviously the music itself can be good or bad, but the artist writes the lyrics for a reason, and it should be discussed, if you don't want to then don't.

@sinan-sencer8 жыл бұрын
not really deathbed atheist means you become an atheist becuase you denounce your faith before you die, this deathbed atheist is a sick title
@athena24837 жыл бұрын
Considering that Norma Jean is a Christian band, I really doubt that. You've got it mixed up bro. It's about a atheist on his deathbed considering that he's been told lies.
@WhopyStompy6 жыл бұрын
I mean, whatever lies you need to tell yourself to help you sleep at night. The title is only capable of throwing you off if you're ignorant enough to dance around the song's meaning. Being that Norma Jean was and still is a Christian band (Corey says "God Bless" after every show I've been to and that's a lot of shows) if anything, this song is calling out atheists because the saying is "there's no such thing as a deathbed atheists." Hence in the lyrics "lies, damned lies, statistics, lie to me, lie to me" You don't hear Christians spouting off statistics in professions of their faith. Atheists on the other hand.....well yeah. They say the burden of proof is on Christians, but the same burden of proof falls to atheists since they can not, in fact, scientifically prove the lack of existence of a god. Not to mention, before science became it's own hypocritical religion, many famous scientists were men and women of faith who's beliefs were only strengthened through their scientific studies. But again, whatever lies you need to tell yourself. Why it has to matter so much to you to the point you're willing to lie to yourself about it is quite telling. So thanks for that.
@No1WillMakeItOutAlive6 жыл бұрын
jvarria1 are you saying that atheists are telling lies to themselves and Christians aren’t? If you are not saying that I apologize for putting words in your mouth but it seems like you are. If you are saying that, oh man oh man bud that’s a heap of bullshit.
@No1WillMakeItOutAlive6 жыл бұрын
jvarria1 also my dude, the burden of proof does fall on the religious, as they are the ones making a claim. The atheists are on the other hand denying a claim. The religious ones should be providing evidence since they are the ones that are actually claiming that something is true, the burden of proof is on them.

"Watch it all change and watch it go away. Watch it all never be the same again." The person on the deathbed is referring to evolution, since when things evolve they don't return back to their previous evolved forms. "Watch it all be nothing like we thought before." He is admitting that "nothing" will occur after death. "Watch it all. Watch it. Watch it all be lies damned lies" Obviously he is claiming that his beliefs are all lies. Hence the name of the song "Deathbed Atheist".

Perla Gomez People don't recognize the truth of The Triune God because they either don't care, they are confused, or they do recognize it but desire to do what pleases the flesh disregarding the fact that we are a triune being, made in the image of God. That's what's gives humans a different job in God's creation and also why satan and the fallen angels despise us. We are all special and God loves all of His creation the same. From human, to angel, to particle....to not recognize that and to make yourself a god doing what pleases self and not the whole of creation is the problem. We all abuse the truth by either desiring more than what we have been blessed with or loving self so much we do what pleases self ignoring what the affect is on everything and everyone around us. And to be true love God must give freewill and must experience free will. That is part of the reason why we exist. God choose to clothe Himself in our flesh and experience freewill to be just, because He loves, and also to atone us for all the things that we have done to hurt ourselves and others. He promised us death when we desired more in the garden and ate the fruit opening our body to disease and flesh to death, and intoxicate to such a level that we allow ourselves to be tempted and possessed by the enemy who loves to please self especially when others hurt. But the curse, because God is love, He turned into a blessing. And we will experience death of the flesh in this part of life. But we are blessed to have freewill, the choice of love and peace for eternity with God and with all who desire that, or to make yourself as your own god and burn with lust and greed and pride never able to quench it because you will be alone and won't be allowed to hurt anyone for eternity. Those who bow and see the Truth and still desire this will get there wish...and God will love you for eternity but they will not see for they have made themselves as god in their soul. God is love, love is just, to be just God had to become Jesus, experiencing temptation. And God was always Jesus because He is, was, and always will be. The Spirit is the part of God that communicates to all of His creation. The Spirit of God speaks to us all...don't ignore it my brother and sisters. I speak of what The Spirit moves me to say. If you disagree, it's all peace and love and I mean no disrespect. Love and Shalom.......

I can love and respect the genuine artistry of these guys without agreeing with their beliefs, but I wish parents would stop abusing their children by presenting religion as fact. Your children at a young age have a strong emotional predisposition to WANT to believe you, this much is proven. The problem is that they must then make their mind then bend to YOUR version of reality without evidence, this damages their analytic capabilities in a very disturbing way. Anyone whose met a 3 year old knows that they are naturally skeptic, everything they do is a learning experience and reality as usual reinforces itself, just support your children for who they are. Be there to allow them to develop and help them along with their critical questions, I'm not saying shield your children from your beliefs, I'm saying don't be intellectually dishonest with them about it. Child abuse whether physical or not is the root of all evil and the reason why people grow to be adults that fall for the bullshit of statism which is just poorly rationalized violence.
@DanielSmith-kf3ts10 жыл бұрын
Creationists have just as much proof for their faith as Darwinists do for theirs, we use the exact same proof for our faiths, we just look at the evidence through different colored coke bottle lenses. Plus, Christianity has a massive amount of historical evidence supporting the credibility of the Bible. So it is hardly abusing children.
@posthardcoresinger10 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but WHAT? Creationists don't have evidence they have philosophical workaround arguments. You can't just use the bible to reinforce itself, I can write a book that says my dick is 100 feet long but I can't just cite that book as my proof. Just look at the flood, everything we know about geology and herd movements completely contradicts that possibility.
@phadedlife10 жыл бұрын
Daniel Smith Actually, the bible is pretty historically innacurate. You have absolutely zero proof for the beliefs of your faith. What is a 'Darwinist?" Someone who accepts evolution (which is basically proven. i dont know how you could ignore the MASSIVE amounts of evidence)? So basically you mean nearly 100% of all scientific experts? And implying a child can make an informed decision about the origin of creation is silly as fuck. Would you make a child a politician? Let him decide whats best for your country?
@infallibleghost10 жыл бұрын
creation vs evolution we look at the same evidence. I say fossils were formed during the flood settling , evolution says the layers are millions of years old based on someones ideas no fact. someone made up the geological column and you date the layers by the fossils circular reasoning, no proof. just repeat and repeat what youve been told it must be right. dont ever question it or try to proove what you actually believe yourself. it takes more faith to believe in evolution than God.

Such a massive shame that they're religious.
@UC1byaoShhwRwz5F1z4eriVQ9 жыл бұрын
Hmm.. I think they're Christian, but I'm not sure I'd call Norma Jean 'religious' - at least not in its organized form. A large number of their songs has Christian Existentialist lyrics, employing a philosophy that is highly critical of the socially oppressive and collectivist tendencies of the organized Church. I'd say Norma Jean is more critical of religion than the majority of atheist/agnostic groups out there. But even if that is not true, I'm curious why you would say that their (supposed) religiosity is a shame.
@rickh23319 жыл бұрын
Why preclude an amazing musical group because of their beliefs portrayed in lyrics? Each instrument, to include the vocals tells a story... Don't always be so literal. They don't tell you what to do in their music like some politically motivated groups. There is a message here and around this kind of music and in my opinion it's about expression and understanding not focusing differences. Religion and non-religion shouldn't so easily offend anyone.
@intronaut85829 жыл бұрын
Dick Fearless Because religion is the antithesis of healthy thought and is destructive to human development. It can fuck right off and those that support it are fools at best and criminals at worst.
@rickh23319 жыл бұрын
Matilda Persson As a non-religious person, Religion in and of itself has lead to the development of humans as we know. To be so dismissive of it is to be naive. Religion alone is why you go to bed at night with no fear... belief in oneself and of the people. Don't be so narrow to only view religion in the context of violence and misunderstanding. It's too easy to do. "Your lack of faith is disturbing" is the quote that came to mind when I read this. It's ok to doubt and question and not believe. But to sound so destructive in the exact item you are highlighting is almost counter intuitive. "Their (whoever that is) violence offsets my violence at those same people..." If you want to ride that downward spiral be my guest.

Dick Fearless *"As a non-religious person, Religion in and of itself has lead to the development of humans as we know."* Humans as we know? That is an extremely broad claim. These are some of the things humans have done and that we know of humans: Waged war Committed genocide Invented the ability to harness electricity Evolved from more primitive forms of life Are a species of ape Can you please explain how all the above, all being part of humans as we know it, were led to by religion. *"To be so dismissive of it is to be naive."* You've yet to prove that. *"Religion alone is why you go to bed at night with no fear... belief in oneself and of the people."* This sentence makes no sense. You seem to be attempting to imply that belief is religious, but that is not the case. Belief is the acceptance of a claim. The word makes no statement as to the basis for the acceptance. Belief on faith is religious. If you mean to imply I do not fear my fellow man (an assumption) because of religion, you would also be entirely wrong. A religious belief requires a lack of reasoning and the unreasonable are far more dangerous than the reasoned. If you are attempting to claim that religion makes people less violent or otherwise scary, I would have to point out the extensive and ongoing wars and violence under the banners of religion. From the Christian U.S.'s continual bombing and dismantling of Muslim nations, to the Jewish holocaust, religion is everywhere destructive in one way or another. This claim would require the non-religious be more violent than the religious. This is not only false, but largely the reverse. I can, for example, find you some prison statistics that show a vast order more religious in gaol than non-religious. *"Don't be so narrow to only view religion in the context of violence and misunderstanding."* Violence is a fundamental basis for most every religion. Have you read the Christian bible? *"It's too easy to do. 'Your lack of faith is disturbing' is the quote that came to mind when I read this."* I'll pretend you didn't just quote Star Wars for some reason. *"It's ok to doubt and question and not believe. But to sound so destructive in the exact item you are highlighting is almost counter intuitive."* That sentence literally makes no sense. *"'Their (whoever that is) violence offsets my violence at those same people...'"* Show me a single example of my being violent, as you claim. You can't, because you just made that up and it's a straw man fallacy. *"If you want to ride that downward spiral be my guest."* Non sequitur.

@SummerGameProject It's about a man who considered himself an atheist until his deathbed confession of something else (or rather, him doubting his atheism and fearing what is after death). Hence, "Watch it all all be nothing like we thought before." I think it was a bandsonfire interview... or was it HM? Either way, that's what it's about.

+Jeremy Seal They don't whine about god ALL the time, they're a secular band with disputable subject matter at times.

+Jeremy Seal Just like UnderOath, started out bitching about saving people and then ended up a real metal band.

Bearded Rizz I never said that they did. I love Underoath too. That's what I love about the bands I mentioned, they write material about an array of subjects.

I am far from being christian but I love this band, I love this song just for the lyrics themselves not what they 'may' or 'may not' stand for.

I agree with u, in some points, those full of hate comments are unnecessary, if u have a point of view, defend it, but dont offend others people point of view. But those comments "Great Song", "I love it" or "I hate it" ur dispensable too. I dont really care about, cuz big part of them, you say something opposite of that, who said that comment come and offend you. Im really glad u didnt do that. Im surprised.

"And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead." (Exodus 12:29-30)

Almost like Cory is struggling with his views. It is rare to hear confused main vocalist about his own stuff. So refreshing to hear, real, authentic actual and grounded emotions.
