Short filmstory about Norma filmed in 2011 with the intention of doing a longer documentary. Norma passed away before we could pick up the project again, so this is all that we've got. This was edited and uploaded in 2019 to celebrate Norma's Supernova exhibiition in Claremont, CA. For those who have commented about the music in the first couple of minutes, that is Norma's track "Air Hymn" from her album with John Zeretzke.

Tears of joy getting to watch this today! Norma has been my favorite musical “discovery” of this year for me. Wish I had heard her sooner. I feel so inspired by her music and her generous and creative life apart from the industry.

She was an amazingly talented and evolved person. I remember "Cat named Dog" from my youth. Something about that song moved some gears way back in my young brain.

My dad's name was Sidney Kolodny. (He passed 5 years ago.) He was a musician. I don't know if he drove a cab in the 60's, I was too young to be attuned to that, but he could have. Does anyone know more about this part of Norma's story?

I've been crying non-stop the last three years. Today I was ready to really break down until I saw this. It made me feel better when I was adopting "you're dead" because I am out! I am grateful to share some tears for Norma. I was predestined to see this, and the other thing that I now know of. Thanks for putting this up

The lyrics she wrote to a J. S. Bach piece ate exceptional. Dusty recorded. Go softly goodbye Life is like an empty dream Lost in the sky I see through my tears The sadness of years The shadows of happiness passing I will miss the sun when you go I will miss the mornings of laughter and tears Your hello and more than this as you go Gone is the light from the day Gone is the pleasure of night And when you go no more welcoming love Or a dream So goodbye my love Goodbye So my love Go gently goodbye Memories of loving you never will die My longing will pass My loving will last The whispers of time never dimming I will miss your touch when you go I will miss the wonder of magical love As it grows and more than this when you go Gone is the warmth of your smile Now is the coldness of snow Gone when you go is the welcome of love And the dream So goodbye, my love Goodbye

@ragismrotzrochen5776
@ragismrotzrochen5776 4 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what many modern singers lack. Give five years of practice and you can sing as well as the biggest pop star singers. But being on key with a full, rich tone and doing lots of fancy ornamentations is veeeeeeeeery boring. And it all means nothing if you just don't have this mysterious thing some call soul, mojo or whatever. That's why Bob Dylan slurring words and not hitting notes is one helluva lot better as a singer than Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande etc.

A person who seemed to very much love art and creativity. Little widely known about the spiritual philosophy she adopted and expressed, it would seem. By appearance she appears to have been a humble person. Interesting to note that she had many Dusty Springfield albums (out of admiration for Dusty Springfield's performance and the memory of their personal association, I guess) but Norma appeared content just having one tattered album cover and record mixed up amongst all of the others in her collection. Perhaps her humble disposition held her back a little with regard to her musical skills and talents. Who knows? A cat called dog song will always be associated with Norma and it's unlikely that anyone else could successfully produce their own rendition of it. By many accounts she led a full and contented life. R.I.P Norma Tanega.
