I had been thinking long of describing the process of delivery and what goes on in the hospital, in a less frightening and easily understandable manner and came out with this animation version of the entire process. I had dilated 5 Cms by the time I reached hospital for a check up as had mucus pink discharge and some water. It was 36th week and we were looking for a date for C sec. Baby decided to come out and I had no idea how normal would be. Thank God I was ignorant of how baby actually comes out and episiotomy otherwise I would be in panic mode. Literally Normal delivery is easy and few minutes of pushing pain which is totally worth it. Experienced it and that’s the best memory of my baby birth.

I didn’t know I was in labor because I was just feeling like really intense menstrual cramps, I tried to sleep, I took a shower, I tried to sit down and everything was still uncomfortable so I went to hospital and effectively, I was in labor with 4 cm of dilatation. At 39 weeks sharp I met my baby girl 🥰

Never go to the hospital until you are in the second day stage of labor. especially if you are looking for normal delivery or Vaginal birth. Episiotomy is not always needed if someone guides you well on how to push. Choose correct positions while pushing to avoid 2nd or 3rd degree tear.

@AmanpreetKaur-yz7um Hi, I am Indian but I don't reside in India. There are several studies that say episiotomy is not required. Even WHO guideline says the same. Episiotomy is only required when there is a threat of 3rd or 4th degree tear. Other wise episiotomy is not a compulsion, and no one can force you. Neither can anyone force you to lie in a particular position. Sleeping on the left, kneeling down, and sitting on a toilet chair are one of the favorable positions to give birth. Squatting in Indian toilet style pose is good too, but it has a risk of 3rd degree tear. Labor is your show, and you choose how to run it. Don't make anyone force you to always make informed decisions. I hope this helps.

The lithotomy position is the worse to give birth. Women must be able to move as her body signals. She instinctly can be on all fours (on hands and knees) side lying position. Squatting, standing. There is zero to minimal need to EPISIOTOMY in these positions. I've witnessed myself. Unfortunately doctors are not much aware about the beauty and tricks of vaginal birth.
