I’m not one to typically comment, but have to say I am quite impressed by this game, more specifically, the dev’s responsiveness to your comments. I remember on stream you mentioned like a reset function for the chosen evidences, as well as the footprint sensor, and ghosts being clearly distinguishable. Obviously, you’re always a treat to watch Insym, but lots of kudos to the dev for being open to improve the game!

I think thematically shared health makes sense, because in this game, you don't die. You just get rescued, which is why you lose money. So when working at a team, it makes sense that if one of your teammates is too injured, for you all to run away and get help to heal your team.

On the hard-mode run with the Demon I was just staring at chat while clawing my eyes out when only one person spotted the extremely obvious cursed bottle in the basement. Instantly knew Insym was dead af when he didn't know it was a demon and could kill him at 50 activity

"Smudging the room is the only way to reduce the activity" - Isn't there a type of bullet you can craft that is specifically designed to reduce activity? Holy Water reduces the "Ghost Strength." Far as I know Insym has only ever used Holy Water. If higher difficulties have much faster activity increases, I think the game loop will be more reliant on shooting the ghost with whichever secondary ammunition effect reduces activity while searching for ghost clues and photos. I know this would require the expensive perk to enhance ammo crafting though. Cost of improvements and perks are pretty dang steep in this game.

For the shared health thing, it appears that the point is to bring the game to end "earlier" - instantly end in the case someone dies. The dev could get a in-between approach, where others having less and less health (or getting killed) could keep increasing the ghost aggression or strength instead. This way the game kinda ends earlier but you still give some limited chance to others.

32:48 I think when the ghost doesnt spin when it gets trapped means you are using the wrong trap (in this case it should be Lost but you use Residual).

I wonder if the bullet additive that decreases the ghost activity literally refers to the activity meter. If that's the case, maybe that's the secret to Hard mode. You bring the activity down faster, so the ghost stops hunting relentlessly.

I can confirm that this is how it works. It's super useful though it can be double edged at times when you need the ghost to be active. After Insym's first video on the game, I rushed out and picked it up with a friend of mine and we've been loving it.

Man, the patience Insym has to deal with all the commenters on EVERY game he plays trying to badmouth the games, and constantly comparing them to Phasmo is insane. I mean, it's obvious most of them are kids, so they probably haven't heard of many of these mythological creatures/ghosts before, and they have a tendency to be overprotective of games they like, but man... reminds me a lot of the elementary school teachers I know. I would not be able to resist constantly shitting on and banning annoying comments like that.

It's amazing how these ghost hunting games that come out of nowhere always come out SWINGING. If the dev can keep up the good work here, this will truly be something incredible. Not that it isn't already a diamond in the rough. I'm also glad to see you having so much fun and being blown away by the stuff going on. CSPPI is an amazing game with super high quality, for example, but its good points are pretty evenly distributed and feel tame in terms of how hype this game is. Really looking forward to you playing more if you want to, especially if Psycho (and CJ) are in on it.

The map on the EMF works fine. It's like a radar display in a plane. It's displaying a cone, but stretching its dimensions to fit a square. It means something say 15 degrees to your right and right next to you might appear on the far right side of the display, while something 15 degrees to your right and at the limit of your instrument's range will appear the proper 15 degrees to the right, because that part of the cone doesn't need to be stretched to fit the display.

I haven't finished the video yet but I think the weakness to the Raiju is the same as a Yokai. If you read the top it states : "This is a kind of Yokai with multiple appearances is often associated with abnormal electrical activity." Could be wrong but I think it is a good shot.

if you look at the Runes, if you get anything wrong the Runes spin. I you get the Ghost correctly, the Ghost spins. the runes still trap entities even though it's wrong btw

58:30 delete the breaker so it can draw no electricity. Hit it a lot with the shotty, but put some slowing additive in there, so that it becomes easier to hit and kills you less rapidly, then focus on using gun and runes. Once you've slowed it right down, just switch to holy water to finish it off, which deals bonus damage. Shield can be applied to stop yourself dieing mid crafting, cause it'll bounce off and leave you unphased.

Raiju is just normal bullets. It did lowered your activity once you got an accurate shot at it. However, due to it getting like 10x more stronger after the rune makes it more powerful than normal ghosts.

I've noticed something with with the summoning circles the ghost will spin around if it is the right behavior and ghost any ghost can break the seal if it is incorrect the ghost will disappear quickly and not spin

A raiju's weakness is bone powder. It states that it is a type of Yokai, hence it shares its weakness.

My bet on what the first ghost was would be Poltergeist; it started touching a lot of objects in the kitchen at once, skyrocketing the activity in a matter of seconds. That perfectly matches the Poltergeist's special ability as described in the journal, namely going into rage mode.

That first game's ghost was most likely a Demon, since it was hunting between 50 and 60. Vengeful-induced "hunts" generally don't have the wooshing sound accompanying the ghost's position. All the demons I've encountered have been crazy active too, and every interaction the ghost does with something increases activity so faster/stronger ghosts can just slam you with activity.

Fairly certain the key to beating the Revenant is to use the weakening bullet additive and shooting it a few times when you see it so it stops attacking you completely or for less damage as it’s description says weakens the ghost. Most people believe that the additive may do more damage but perhaps it weakens their abilities while the ghost type additive does more damage. Same with the other one that lowers the activity it’s probably going to be more important to use a few of those bullets to save your smudge sticks for very important moments also I think the sure fire way to beat a Raiju is going to be shooting it whenever you see it. Get that ghost photo but then if it shows up again or grabs you or whatever pop it in the face while gathering evidence.

This game is really awesome, I think it's the first time since phasmo I feel like a ghost game is actually hard, and not because it's bugged, cause we don't know how to play yet or super unfair, but actually hard

The counterpoint to shared health punishing the better player in the squad is that for the more casual players, Phasmo's death system quite often means one person getting stuck in a game where they're doing literally nothing for 20+ minutes waiting for their team to finish a round. It's nice and all for people with hundreds-to-thousands of hours who want to flex on their friends and show them that they didn't die, but for a game which inherently has to cater to casual players, punishing people for not playing obsessively by giving them really boring gameplay isn't a good way to retain them for long.

The counterpoint to that is the option to just leave the game if you die and don't find spectator mode (which is a standard feature of most online multiplayer games) fun. That's functionally the same as the mission ending because someone died, except A) it doesn't end the game for other players who might want to keep playing, and B) in a game like TIAG, that basically raw dogs you after death, it would be significantly less punishing. The only possible benefit I can think of is that it could reduce griefing, but I feel like there are better ways to do that -- things like moderation and a zero-tolerance "one strike and you're banned" policy toward griefing, for instance. Now you might say "well what if the mods don't enforce it," but the fact is, assuming that the IMO very bad "everyone dies and gets fucked if one person dies" has anything to do with preventing griefing (which This Is A Ghost already separately punishes with a specific penalty for harming another player), I think TIAG's devs can be trusted not to show leniency toward griefers. Also, back to Phasmo, you don't have to play on Nightmare mode if you don't want to. Why not just play on an easier difficulty if you want something more casual? There's no shame in playing on an easier difficulty, and removing spectator mode won't make harder difficulties more fun for casual players.
