How do you know that , it's to substrate or add to 0.5?

54% is more than 50%, so it means that the probability that we're looking for is of the 50% and the little portion from the other 50% hence we add instead of subtracting

The Z score is 2.25 so u will use that figure to find those who scored less than 78% in the positive Z distribution table. I hope you know how to read from the table
