@@fourever2ne1 oh yeah that's true, rationally I know most people don't care, I've even gotten more compliments than when I dressed more normal. So it's more a personal feeling. I wouldn't necessarily assume people are judging me when they're staring, it kinda depends on the context. But most rude comments I've gotten are from dudes so I guess I assume (wrongly, I think) that even though people might think I look cool they wouldn't be interested in me romantically or as friends (if that makes sense?). Need to work on that self esteem. But it's nice to hear you think it looks cool :)

Definitely try to just play with your makeup and dress up in your own room. Make it your self care time to experiment! Take photos just for yourself, you don’t have to post them anywhere or show them to anyone. My favorite shirt it one of my younger brothers, old red and dark grey DC shirt that I literally just stole and cut up as a cheap zombie costume for Halloween one year and now I wear it all the time for the past five years 🤣 lipsticks can be your best friends. Lipstick can be blush, eyeshadow, colored eyeliner, fake dark circles. It’s a time to be creative! There is no right or wrong! If you ever get to go to a completely different city or town away from your home dress up, go out, and remember... you don’t know these people and they don’t know you! They’ll never see you again so what ever happens only matters if you let it matter. Dirty looks? Social experiment and you just found a Karen. Compliments? You found another person just like you ☺️

I believe in our country cat calling in general is dismissed and even praised as "cheeky" when it's simply sexual harassment. It shouldn't be expected or laughed at that builders always hit on women while their (the builder's) bum crack hangs out, but it is. Drinking shouldn't be an excuse for inappropriate behaviour, yet it is. School uniforms shouldn't be sexualised, much less Catholic school ones, yet they are (which is pedophilic imo, even if it's not an actual adult wearing it, school uniforms are for children and that's what you find sexy). This is the lad culture I speak of- the typical "oi oi gorgeous!" kind of crap we need to stop allowing just because someone isn't actively touching their victim. Sure, it's not anything you can get the police to look into but it's definitely not ok.

So there's this study done on dating apps that compared people with more unique characteristics and found that "normal" people had more people attracted to them but people with unique characteristics had stronger, polarized opinions. I saw this interesting video recently by boyinaband that talks about stuff like this. They got people to rate girls out of 5 and 2 girls got about the same average rating but one had way more messages than the other. The reasoning behind this is that one was quite a bland, “normal”, but pretty girl where most people voted good but not amazing, while the other was a bit more “alternative” and quite a lot of people voted bad but also lots of people voted amazing, averaging it out. The theory is that the more polarising you are (eg. by having “alternative” things), the more people will absolutely hate you but also the people that do like you like you all the more, hence the more messages. Sorry if this is really long and I explained badly, but I just think it’s interesting! :)

Ive always been alt too and i did the same thing you did. My normal profile still had hints of my alt Side. I received msgs that were waaaay more respectful. The alt profile got more nasty msgs. Like if the dudes think of alt as more of a fantasy.. not gonna lie i even received many messages saying "ahh i never tried that before"... Disapointed. 🙃🙄
