I absolutely admire that he fought them on Daryl making racist remarks, and just in general fought for his character. I couldn't picture someone else doing Daryl the way Norman does. Hell, we wouldn't even HAVE a Daryl if it weren't for Norman.

Daryl is probably one of the most admirable, heroic characters on that show. He definitely plays the "bad ass with a heart of gold" incredibly well, and thats such a cliche role, so for him to get it right the way he does is even more impressive.

I really appreciate the character arc that darryl has gone through, he's a fully 3 dimentional character. He wouldn't be the same if he succumbed to the things merril did, he's the younger brother who got pushed around a lot. But the difference is, he saw that merril was weak. Fear being disguised by anger. Derryl became strong because he fought for his beliefs every day and never compromised what he thought was right. All merril did was compromise, talk shit, and find the easiest situation that he could thrive in with the least effort.

I would have liked it if Daryl had taken his brother's drugs, tbh. I would have loved to see a drug addict try to survive in the zombie apocalypse - going through withdrawals, conflicted at times because he'd be tempted to go on secret runs or risk the group's safety just to get his hands on drugs. I would have loved that. It would have given Daryl's character even more material to work with. And YES to the dog. YES to the wolf, or the tiger. Whatever, just give him a badass pet that can tear walkers apart. But wait - what would happen to the animal if it ate/took a bite off a walker? Would it get infected, just sick, die, or would it be completely unaffected? On another note; Norman's desire for Daryl to have a dog reminds me of that one s4 episode where he's staying in a house with Beth and a dog comes knocking on their door.

Well we had an addict in the show, do you remember Bob??, he did exactly what you said above, he risked the group's safety at least twice and had his secret runs, I mean, he lived all the conflicts of being an addict; and about the dog, too complicated, I really doubt the poor guy would last for long, Daryl is a hunter and puts the group's wellbeing first, if they ever run out of food again he would put down the poor dog to feed them.

NeoSalvation The places where characters die is vastly different to the show so there's no way you can know that, in the comics Shane died at the beginning, Dale dies much later. Lori died after giving birth and the problems with the Governor. Gov cut of Ricks hand. Otis died at the prison rather than after a couple of episodes. Carol died at the prison, Sophia is still alive etc
