You think he’ll ever play a my bloody valentine song with an offset?
@wezzlyn6 жыл бұрын
Sebastián Probably not. He's not a pedal guy. No way he'd play shoegaze
They did a short scale because it was made for surf music, and it was thought to be easier to play faster licks. I got that from several surf music history books. Either way Jags are awesome!
@TheDude40776 жыл бұрын
One underappreciated thing about the offsets is their ability to use the rhythm circuit as a kill switch. Just roll back the volume on the rhythm circuit to zero, and bam! the rhythm circuit switch is now a makeshift kill switch!
@blakemcnamara91053 жыл бұрын
Never even thought of that!

Rough day? C'mon, you have the coolest job ever.
@mbrymckinney16 жыл бұрын
The short scale was in response to players not liking how the normal fender scale felt on the Jazzmaster. Leo also thought it might make the guitar appeal to Gibson players.

How very strange! I, myself, wrote this exact comment in another video entirely. It was on a blues backing track in Am. That should suddenly make the comment make sense. I wonder what happened..? Did George Prewitt just copy and paste my comment (for no conceivable reason...)? (But even then it wouldn't make sense because his comment is a year old, and I made this comment just one or two months ago!) ....Or did Utube glitch and send my own msg back to me, like a filler of sorts, as I scrolled through comments..? I don't know, I'm grasping at straws! I can't explain it. Can you? ..... That message is quite unique in its' phrasing, its' sentiment and its' elaborate use of emojis... I just can't believe that a complete coincidence has just occurred. Maybe this George Prewitt can shed some light on this enigma! George, if you are reading this, please... Do you recall making any such comment?

Matthew Andrews He hated his jag-stang, not his regular jaguar.
@acarlovonsexron19946 жыл бұрын
Yeah, he loved his mustangs in all forms, it's why he had several, but his Jaguar he particularly loved because when he bought it, it already had all the perfect modifications for him done to it. You can imagine there aren't that many vintage lefty Fenders out there, but finding a lefty Jag modded for a smaller faster neck, two dimarzio humbuckers, simpler 3 way switch, tune-matic bridge... you can imagine he'd be pumped. All in a pre internet age, found locally in the LA recycler, right before they went into studio to record Nevermind. It even came with a flight case. Same deal with the lefty completion blue 69 Mustang, bought locally right before going in studio. I imagine a little fate was in play.

If you shim the neck and raise the bridge, so there's more string-pressure on the saddles, most Jags and Jazzmasters play just fine.

They were made short scale under the assumption that surf guitarists- who they were originally designed for- would have an easier time pulling off fast and technical leads. Same reason for the mute and hi end switch: built around staccato and reverb'd riff-ery.
