I bought my Grammer in 1968. My son mostly plays it now but I still consider it a one owner guitar and it’s kept in almost pristine shape. It’s got the same pickguard as in the video but it’s sunburst spruce. Back and sides are rosewood, not maple and the bridge and fingerboard are both ebony. The inlays down the fingerboard are usually called the ‘railroad tracks’. They are the same pattern as the binding but seem to gleam more against a black fingerboard. With top quality wood, hardware, and craftsmanship, they are the best acoustics ever made for country music.A Grammer is hens teeth to find nowadays (2024) as relatively few were made and most owners don’t let them go. I paid appx $400 in 1968 dollars. The $400 included a hard black case with that same orange lining, a real leather strap that went out to the headstock in those days, and four real tortoise shell Fender picks of which I still have two. Thanks for the post and the memories.

HOLY SHIT!!!! I picked one of these up at a pawn shop 25 years ago (pre internet) and thought it was a cheap Martin clone, beat the guy down to $80!! It's currently covered with stickers and with my son at college..... if I had only known what I had.... that girl has seen some rough days, but still SINGS...... i might want to get it back....

I love watching the Mark replays he was the best guitarist and gave such exhaustive information in just a few minutes time. I wish he was still doing these episode's. In my humble opinion he was the best!

Was watching an episode of the Porter Wagner show with Billy Grammer as the guest. After Billy played, Porter came up to him to ask why his Grammer guitar didn't sound like that. With the straightest of faces, Billy replied, "It does. It's not the guitar, it's who's playing it."

Fun Fact: "Danny Boy" was originally an ancient Irish instrumental called "Londonderry Aire." The lyrics were written by a British lawyer sometime after 1913.
