Being taught by Randy Rhoads, his first guitar was a 74 alpine white guitar, it stained over time with playing in clubs. The guys got together to buy it for Randy from guitar center Hollywood, when they started making money he got more guitars , his had blond tune knobs and and blond switch , with humbuckers gold plated. Now her s what people get confused, in 1972 he went to go see Bowie in Santa Monica, who he saw on stage but of course mick playing a 1972 les Paul , get the picture? Any more info contact me or I can direct you to his sister, thanks again guys.. ✌️

My grandma bought one of these for my sister who had 2 lessons under her belt before getting this. Now I own it. Has very few hours 4-5 he's of playing but was well maintained. Mine is a little whiter I assume because it was rarely out of the case. Original case and had the original strings until about 1992. It's beautiful.

Though Randy played a 74, it was not a 20th Anniversary model. Also, I was there the day he received the guitar as a gift from their first manager Dennis who had a plumbing business, built a rehearsal studio in his garage and largely funded Quiet Riot's early efforts. I shot hours of club footage in the '70s for the boys, here's Randy giving a clinic one night in Hollywood at The Whisky. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2WwfIiBrahpfbs

@eatmagnumrevolver30482 жыл бұрын
I bought one new in 74' some facts to correct, first the 20th anniversary inlay is on the 15th fret not the 12th as stated, the AMF "Bowling Ball" Nowlin Gibson BODY was made with FIVE SEPARATE pieces of wood NOT FOUR (2) pieces of body wood (1) laminate filler piece of either maple or walnut with (2) SEPARATE pieces Maple top - 5 piece body The neck was constructed with (3) SEPARATE pieces of wood, if you count the "ears" that are glued on to Les Paul's and most all other Gibson headstocks you will count these as (5) piece necks Also, when these were released I never saw any other 20th that wasn't white, if they made them I never saw one. Because of the multiple pieces of scrap wood assembly, mine weighed just under 14 pounds! The "volute neck support" was really an attempt to stabilize the neck from wanting to "turn and twist" in different ways due the 3 SEPARATE pieces of wood responding differently to temperature and humidity conditions. It saddens me to see Dealers and Individual sellers "pushing up" pricing on these AMF Nowlin era Gibson guitars as If they WERE and or ARE true vintage guitars, THEY ARE NOT, these guitars of this AMF Nowlin era are the WORST PRODUCTS OF ALL GIBSON'S EVER MADE They were made with "scrap wood" construction (hence all the smaller thinner pieces of wood) AMF Nowlin wanted to suck as much profit from Gibson as possible, shame they ruined the company during this period These ARE NOT VINTAGE GIBSON GUITARS, these are "re-issues" of real Vintage Gibson's, they are just OLDER GIBSON'S...NOT VINTAGE, don't be a sap and fall for this scam, at some point the jig will be up and the market will get corrected, but until it does, BEWARE!

I never understood wanting taller frets. My dad’s 1970 Les Paul Custom had the “wonderless” frets. He did bends with no problem. Unfortunately, it went to crap a few years ago. I sent it to Gibson and they replaced those great frets with medium jumbos. 😮 Plus, the bridge was collapsed. So they replaced that….and didn’t cut the high E slot correctly. Now, if you’re not careful, you can slide off the fretboard. That wasn’t a problem before. Yeah, it’s back to playing shape….but not like it was.
